I really have mixed feelings about Michelle Phan (the woman in the video, a "makeup expert" on YouTube). I think she looks really beautiful without it, and I was raised on the principle of "less is more". I see women with a pound of eyeshadow on and it just turns me off, especially when they're beautiful without it.
It's not about being beautiful. I know she didn't mean it this way, but this kind of make up is good for going on stage for cosplay shows. Just having a natural look will make your face disappear.
She probably knows how good she looks without make-up, but since it IS her trade/interest, she's bound to be quite experimental with her craft..

Ummm, it's funny cause there are LOTS of Hatsune Miku make up tutorials out there, and they're pretty much the same: non-asian girls trying to make their eyes look bigger though THEY DON'T FUCKING NEED TO.
Plus, Miku's make up is supposed to be natural, and not full of fake lashes and unmeasurable tons of eyeliner.

If you wanted to make Miku "natural" give her squinty eyes, perplextion in her skin, bushy eyebrows, black hair, 20 extra pounds and she would resemble a human. The reason they do the eye makeup is because anime chars have huge eyes, its just the way it is.
