I dunno FMP! or Clannad were 'exciting', but sure loved the story. Other than that, I can agree to some extent on the rest.
FMP was exciting I would think. At least that first episode was seriously action-packed, as well as hilarious. Clannad being 'exciting' I'm wondering if something is lost in translation. Like it should be 'engaging' instead of 'exciting.'
I just started High School of the Dead last night. And I am beyond surprised it's not here while something like Clannad is.
My thoughts exactly...
In fact, this list makes no sense at all.
I'm not saying this because my favourite anime isn't on the list but rather because comedy and drama animes ARE NOT EXCITING. I love them, I truly do. But Clannad doesn't have me sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation as Higurashi or Madoka would.
For the first, and hopefully last time, I'll say this.
Fail list is epic fail.
Clannad did have me on edge a few times, but for different reasons. I personally don't see the problem with considering dramatic level tension and action level tension in the same vein, but that has to be clearly delineated to make sure the people recognize that for these lists. For example you mention Higurashi. Higurashi wasn't action, but suspense, which isn't necessarily 'exciting' by its definition.
So it's just such a vague list that it doesn't mean anything.
i am kind of pissed, excellent animes are ranked very low, and as always Madoka is on the first spots. really Madoka wasn't that good. it was interesting yes but it's nothing much than that, it was too short to be really
considered that big a deal.

I watched 12 episodes of Madoka in one go, and my thought, it's been unnaturally high ranked.
The OP and ED songs aren't good at all, I passed them every time.
The plot is average. (some wacko alien who's seeing human as mere livestock!)
The ending is horrible. (it would be much better for Madoka to has honorable death rather than turning into some unclear entity)
The battles are totally silly! The witches and their goons are just in the form of kid's scribble who have unclear shape, unclear ability, unclear attack pattern, and more.
The art gives me eyes cancer....
I hope they learn from Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi (for the art)
Madoka does indeed deserve a high rank. Don't mistake the shortsightedness of these fools taking these polls with complete blindness. They recognize enjoyable shows as enjoyable shows, they just have the memory of fleas.
Madoka was an exceptional example of creativity mixing things up in a generally stagnant genre. The witch realms being metaphorical IDs of a sort was a wonderful artistic choice to me. If it gave your eyes cancer, then the problem is with your eyes.
The ending was not horrible because of what happened, but because it didn't really have any closure, which was the issue with most anime anyway. It's their annoying method of saying 'possible new season, but usually never.' Ascending to higher consciousness when you have enough energy is actually how reality works. In case you don't realize, that's how our bodies and minds function as well, just using different words to describe it.
The plot being average I will agree with. Ironically they took an excellent concept and didn't really expand on it enough. I'm hoping for more so they can do so.
But again, don't blame the animes themselves for the shortsightedness of the poll takers.

If you're into action anime (Which is a fair assumption since you started watching it to begin with) then theres no way you'd fall asleep to the most over the top one ever created.

A year ago this list would have had K-On!, Occult Academy, and Highschool of the Dead.
Wow, I've only heard/seen of like 3/4 series from this list.
Is it just me, or do these lists always seem biased towards a particular demographic/genre. There are some seriously good series out there and I'm surprised they're not on here. I always take these "top whatever" lists with many grains of salt.

Either I don't know the meaning of "exciting", or the Japanese have a different definition for it. While I like a lot of these anime, I wouldn't call half of them exciting (at least not enough to be considered one of the 25 most exciting anime).
To my way of thinking "exciting" denotes something thrilling or action based. I don't know if I would classify Nichijou , Hanasaku Iroha as exciting, even though I really like both of them
