Toyota’s decision to aggravate all Miku fans everywhere by insisting on using a bizarre American comic styled illustration of the world’s foremost virtual idol has finally been rescinded – not only is the new version not a flagrant rip-off of Tony’s artwork, it is rather tasteful and even displays a tantalising glimpse of Miku’s upper thigh.
Before (with Tony Miku for comparison):
Sadly Toyota still does not offer a negi-green colour scheme for the car itself, or even a free wallpaper of its tasteful art, but other than the awkward CG version of Miku it still employs it is at least not actively antagonising the very demographic it was so clumsily attempting to court.

Great, now its a little easier on the eyes.
But why no official itasha option, TOYOTA!?
"... it is rather tasteful and even displays a tantalising glimpse of Miku’s upper thigh."
->
"... it is rather tasteful and even displays a tantalising glimpse of Miku’s waki."
Fixed that for you.
despite the flashy colors it is a great improvement. I guess all those requests to change it really paid off
More like rage request
Finally the official version released!
"Machomiku?" that was the artist doodling XD
The vibrant colors made me step back a bit but when the pot smoke finally cleared so was I
Ita option required
now we should return to them to thank them, so they know for sure they did well
the art design and pose is way too similar to that of Panty from PSG
Well it has been localized so by next year we might have PSG inspired theme cars soon
Wow, Toyota caved and changed macho Miku. Next on the list for Toyota: No Scion brand on the FT86.
>ft86
NEVER GONNA RELEASE
I'm glad! Never liked the machomiku version of her anyways.
Go girly girl!
I'm interested to know the artist of the new neon Miku.
obviously u don't know art when you see it. good lord u people are so easy to scam, with doing the least amount of work for a simpler finish with lesser details.
kanbanmusume.....sorry my ass, but that OTHER miku looks MORE masculine than before SHE LOOKS MORE LIKE A FREAKING BISHONEN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!
Now why didn't they just use this one from the start...
where did macho miku even come from....who even thinks about that lol
the "macho" miku that you and everyone else dispaise and hate, was made by a talented artist name ALVIN LEE....so to you haters, screw you! the original prototype was HOT!!
And they say trolls are useless...
The "macho" Miku is simply a more realistic one, you have to be some sort of deranged pervert to prefer the les human one.
I know I am :)
even a human doesn't look that bad
with make up that is.
a human is fine too (as long as it doesn't look like M****Miku)
I still don't like the new design. Sure, it's much better than Machomiku was, but why does our young, flat teen Miku look like an adult woman?
I don't like it one bit.
Unfortunately this is Swedish and Aussie only version
.
.
.
.
at least thats what i hoped for
Those giant lips are my only problem with it. Other than that it's a marked improvement over the other design.
Next they need to fire whoever did the writing for the commercial and make a new one.
Her mouth is open. She is singing, what you see is the inside of her mouth, not her lips.
@ Anon 15:38 your screwed up perception made me lol
another loser who doesnt know art when he sees it.
Fuckkkkkkkkkkkk now it look like a god dam Disney character fuck America stop ruining her
I haven't seen a Disney character look like that.
Just proof that some of these guys will never be happy just because it's western.
Thats because America is land of the dumdums now :(
u mad.
The artist who did this illustration is Japanese, it's Zain7.
Well Miku looks better, however this combination still baffles me.
i quite like this version. face could use a little bit of work, but otherwise, <3

It's very nice to subscribe to the fantasy that Toyota somehow listened and changed the artwork.
The reality is probably more along the lines of Toyota is forced to change it after being caught stealing from Tony Taka.
Admittedly this is a sound alternative hypothesis.
Actually, I was surprised when I saw the artist actually said Toyota/the client asked him to rip off Tony Taka.
Check out his comments in the description:

Did Tony even notice or say anything?
If he's gonna bitch about an fanart, Vocaloid creators can start bitching about any fanart.
Toyota didn't dump "macho" Miku, Zain7 is the other artist working with Alvin Lee in the project... If you have been paying attention you would have noticed that his posters have been around at the same time that Alvin Lee's ones: http://vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/File:Hatsune_Miku_Toyota_Corolla_poster_by_zain7.jpg
dat new artwork would've been appropriate for Mountain Dew ad...
Fosho. Imagine shipping boxes of Dew to Japan, think of the profits.
Fund it!
I wa shock!
Seriously, who were they trying to appeal towards with that hideous creature that was the original "macho" version?
lol good even though that last pic her with angel wings looked nice i still prefer Original JP art
Don't compare it with the best, which Tony pretty much unquestionably is. The fact that Toyota heeded the message was a good call on their part.
Sorry friend, but Tony has a severe case of same face symptoms with all his arts.
I think thats somehow a common problem among Artists, i mean the issue with the same face used in every art.
bullshit, this destroys the original in every category. tony's stuff looks like crap from some low budget hentai game. everything "official" for miku has barely qualified as fanart quality, especially the 3d which looks like some F project from a highschool class. dumbass fanboys.
Tony is unoriginal and boring. People think that the art being fappable makes him some artistic genius. We've had better artist spots on this site alone.
