You seem to think that everyone likes the same things and that it is impossible for people to have different preferences.
They don't hate her nearly as much as Artefact presents it. You could cut his bias with a knife.

You know, that's why I prefer being a fan of Anime characters instead of real life idols.
For Anime characters, you like the character itself and by extension, the seiyuu for the voice that he or she likes.
If one likes an idol or an actor/actress, it will be hard to continue being a fan if that person gets into trouble. For an Anime character, you know everything there is to know about them. They can never get into any scandals, never do things to ruin their reputations, etc...
So, being a fan of Aya, I'm a fan of the voice that she lent to Konata and Haruhi. Nothing more, nothing less.
I remember something along the lines of people tearing up Kannagi manga over a vague hint that Nagi might have had an ex.
I agree with you, Actar. Thats how I see it, too. Aya Hirano's voice fits the characters well and her acting is good. Thats all I care about. Her IRL craziness is irrelevant.
Just like how no matter how anti-tech or whatever Miyazaki might be (if I recall correctly) Ill still watch his anime because the movies are good.
They can never get into any scandals, never do things to ruin their reputations, etc...

You don't have to like someone to respect the work that they do.
Besides, this isn't a list of favourite performances. It's a list of roles that have been so heavily affected and defined by their seiyuu that they cannot be imagined otherwise.
She is unreachable for them...

Wouldn't be Haruhi without Aya's voice. No matter what has happened in recent memory, I firmly she deserved the rookie award she got for voicing Haruhi.
sigh* I remember back in the days when she was still pretty, when she had more hair...

She got some illness which caused her to have hair loss
She's still pretty but seems to be under a lot of stress which does cause hair loss in women.
Aya is still very talented and perhaps the stuff she's doing in real life is just to get attention or maybe she's a bit mentally unstable. Doesn't matter. It's not like everybody in the world are mentally stable. Also, because artists, actors, directors, writers and musicians are NEVER mentally unstable!
That said, for me, Aya's best role is her light and fun role as Lucy Heartfillia in Fairy Tail. Can't wait to see more dramatic moments involving her in future episodes.
She simply lives the life she wants. Not acting to other`s expectations as some others who have no idea how to do it themselves.
If only she could eat more...

I find that as a non-japanese speaking gaijin, I'm not really in a good position to judge seiyus. Almost all of them sound pretty spiffy to me quite frankly and it's hard for me to even parse some of them because I can't pick up on the minutiae. I know that's probably the case because I can listen to dubs and immediately know if a voice actor/actress is shitty for the part.
Don`t give up, Japanese voice acting, with all respect, is simply the best. Maybe i am in different position being as Finnish-speaking (not unsimilar as language to Japanese), in 1st half of my long life, but in due time you will hear it. Dubs sound strange for me.
Still, for your honesty, +1!

Listen to Yuuki Aoi's Victorique and Tomatsu Haruka's Yamaguchi Kisaragi voiceroles, then compare them to Yuuki's Madoka and Tomatsu's Nagi-sama.
The comparison surely will make you realize you that you have no idea why are you typing this comment.

Wow, Lina got on the list, and Hayashibara was in 2 spots! Can't complain...
Personally the Kugimiya role that comes to mind for me will always be Shana - though I haven't watched Toradora, only read it.
I'm overjoyed to see Hayashibara Megumi on the list at all, never mind twice. She's my all time seiyuu favourite, hands down, although I prefer Ranma-chan over Rei.
Aya as Haruhi is an epic combo, despite the drama around her, and Kirino (Taketatsu Ayana) reminds me a lot of Aya with her inflections.
I was really glad to see Hayashibara Megumi on this list as well. The fact that she's remembered for two roles that are so completely different shows what a real pro she is.
because Evangelion is god it took up two spots against what can only be described as Keion format...
