The anime roles no fan could imagine being voiced by another seiyuu, so strong is their synchronisation with the character, are explored in this ranking – topped off by none other than the most distinctively voiced character in recent memory…
1. Kuroko (Railgun) – Satomi Arai
2. Yui (K-ON!) – Aki Toyosaki
3. Haruhi (Haruhi) – Aya Hirano
4. Sakura (Card Captor Sakura) – Sakura Tange
5. Mio (K-ON!) – Yoko Hikasa
6. Mikoto (Railgun) – Rina Sato
7. Asuka (Evangelion) – Yuko Miyamura
8. Ritsu (K-ON!) – Satomi Sato
9. Ai (Jigoku Shoujo) – Mamiko Noto
10. Madoka (Madoka) – Aoi Yuuki
11. Kirino (Ore no Imouto) – Ayana Taketatsu
12. Ikamusume (Ikamusume) – Hisako Kanemoto
13. Azunyan (K-ON!) – Ayana Taketatsu
14. Utena (Utena) – Tomoko Kawakami
15. Usagi (Sailor Moon) – Kotono Mitsushi
16. Anaru (Ano Hi) – Haruka Tomatsu
17. Taiga (Toradora!) – Rie Kugimiya
18. Lina Inverse (Slayers) – Megumi Hayashibara
19. Misae (Crayon Shin-chan) – Miki Narahashi
20. Rei (Evangelion) – Megumi Hayashibara
Not withstanding a heavy showing of recent moeblobs, quite a few enduring classics seem to have found their way into the ranking.
i like kuroko being at the top of this list. =)
“15. Usagi (Sailor Moon) – Kotono Mitsushi”
And yet unlike pretty much every other character on the list, Usagi Tsukino actually WAS played by another voice actress at one point. Specifically, Kae Araki (who would later voice Chibiusa in subsequent seasons) took over for the last few episodes of the first season after Kotono Mitsuishi was hospitalized due to a traffic accident or something.
I could easily imagine Ayana Taketatsu doing Haruhi.
Sadly, Kawakami Tomoko died recently. Spleen cancer.
Set the wayback machine to….waaaaay back, and think:
Lum: Fumi Hirano
+1. I was there, at the beginning. YU 1981.
