2ch has discovered a ranking of the anime most well regarded by the hairy barbarians who dwell in foreign lands.

Few could question the overwhelming worthiness of Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion, but with Boku no Pico beating Toradora and Baccano crushing Bible Black and Ghost in the Shell there is much to ponder about the results… and about 2ch’s belief that the results neatly represent the tastes of all “foreigners.”

The problem with this list is the problem with all bracketing. You pair up animes between which it is difficult to choose and you lose a big player (Naruto, K-ON, Toradora, Bebop, Champloo, etc) early on.

No - 1 and 64 were the series id numbers in the listing. No idea why they bothered including them on the chart, but it just means they were the first and last items in the list, so they got paired against each other for the voting.
Anyone can beat the palm tiger. You just pick it up and throw it against the wall until the flat-chested abomination against nature stops moving. Then replace it with a real woman for the win.

The way they rated it is silly, if that is indeed how they did it. But in the end likely Eva would have still won. It is a good anime and has lots of discussion about it which is what really makes an anime become "worthy." It's not it's wow factor but how long does it keep people talking about it... or recommending it to others...
However you look at it though; the list represents 4-chan.. which, well, as many people know is not necessarily the most reputable location on the internet... especially seeing how far a certain yaoi shota anime made it... unless there really are that many people out there that like that... /shivers

Well Eureka 7 is my all time favourite but.. since i tought it was a underdog to begin with it suprises me to see it beats naruto and were saddend but not suprised it was beaten by one piece.
Yea Eureka 7 is my all time fav too and One Piece is my 2nd so was sad to see E7 lose in the second round but even worse since One Piece went down right after it

Actually I like this list much more than if it was the Japanese version. If the was the Jap the anime selection would be buried in shitty moe anime with Kon and Haruhi on top. I'm glad this list brings back some classics and other genres other than the generic moe shit these Japs watch nowadays.
I don't even understand why that's all they watch. Is it because they are all perverts that live off fan service and little school girls? this list is pretty much a fraud, but what amazes me is that i have 2 admit the 2 winners would have to be winners despite everything. after watching the last Evangelion movie i have to admit i am an Eva fan all over again.

Truer words have never been spoken. If people actually go to /a/ for honest opinions on anime that is popular in America, then I feel sorry for them.

And I can't understand Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion being so high other than boys just being into the viscera of the action and the high production values. Not to say they're bad shows, but some of those shows' worship is out of control.
Then again, so is 2ch's version of extreme hype.
I don't know about Cowboy Bebop, but Evas symbolism and dabbling in psychology is what makes it appealing to a wider audience outside the "visceral action" niche.
Or people who just want to say how much they care about symbolism and psychology...
