Police are looking for a man who asked a schoolgirl whether there was a McDonald’s nearby.

Osaka police have issued a warning to the public after a man in a car drove by a high school girl cycling to school, asking her “Is there a McD around?” to which she responded “I don’t know.” The suspect then drove off.

The perpetrator is described as in his fifties and was driving alone in a small light green car. It appears the nearest McDonald’s was some 500m away.

It would be funny if it eventually turns out to be that the police were just too kind to meet him just to tell him where the nearby McD is.

Apparently so they must have the same hiring criteria the Boston police department has.

I swear both departments must actually go out of their way and look for idiots when hiring.

You've never played a "kidnap and rape" eroge before, haven't you 10:01?

"Don't talk to any girl" just triggers the "nothing ever happens" ending. The bad ending is the one where you get thrown in prison and ass raped by Buba. Or stabbed by a psycho bitch.

Whilst conducting some brief background research about this report, I actually came across several incidents in which men were arrested for attempting to chat up women in the street (aka "nanpa"), so it seems you can already be arrested for talking to women - who needs Sharia law when you have the Japanese police.

    17:51 13/06/2011 # ! Neutral (+0.2)

Damn, why can't those women just say "I'll call the police" or "I'll sue you" instead of the police doing all the job. What if a guy just meet up with his girlfriend in Shibuya, would it be considered as nanpa too?
Seriously, if they have nothing better to do, pls do not create inconveniences for the society JPF.

I think said women who call the police for no reason need to be forced to live six months in the very worst part NYC or LA.
That or the under belly of HongKong as it's closer and supposedly even worse.
I think it will teach themn perspective.
As for the police they need to learn to think for themselves and use their brain for something other then a door stop.
It does not take a rocket scientist to tell the difference between someone who just narrowly escaped getting raped and someone being panicky or even outright lying.

I guess I could see this being a problem if his response to "I don't know" was "Well do you want to make a McDonalds? I'll provide the meat if you provide the buns." And then he raped her. But no, that didn't happen.

@20:31 ...nothing is wrong with the question the guy asked. However, responding "shiranai" to a general question is pretty rude. It's roughly the equivalent of saying "who gives a shit?" (except when talking about knowing a person).

Wakaranai is the correct word to use for civil people.

20:31 here. Well, it all really depends on how you say "shiranai". It can be like "I don't give a shit", but probably more like "don't know" in this case.

Certainly not very polite, but neither was the question.
