It's sad that by large, video games at west has been accepted as a main stream entertainment. While in Japan it is still largely associated as smelly otaku hobby. I think that's one of the big reason why these days the game came out of Japan still mostly consisted of otaku pandering sameshit kyarage. Hell, most of the more innovative Japanese games actually enjoy more success at the western market than at their homefront.
It isn't all fun and games in the anglosphere either - now every new shooter is going to be just like Call of Duty, like Gears of Duty 3 and FarDuty 3 and so on.
Repetition is the enemy of all art, especially video games since its still a new form of artistic entertainment and the industry may end up in danger of collapsing before we have even glimpsed the glory of its potential future greatness.
We need more Action MMO's!

Really...You don't read much gaming news. The top gaming media tends to cover the same amount on Japanese and Western games. The don't not cover much on Korean or Chinese games because they are mostly MMORPG. Western games do however sell more and do better internationally than Japanese games. This is mostly do to the fact that the Japanese gaming industry don't know how to market their games properly. Japanese games well always sell in Japan, but outside Japanese it is a matter of how well the fans spread the news.
