Agreed completely. Maybe it was because i watched Kanon right after Air, but it didn't have such an impact on me.

    Still. Madoka. Madoka? Madoka?! lol

    Comment by Anonymous

I agree, but Air was so-so.
Now Clannad After Story...I cried like a baby when Nagisa and Ushio died T_T

    Oh also when Fuko disappeared.

These lists are retarded, its always moeblob shit that clogs it up no matter what the category is. There are some much worse older or classic animes for this category.

Try watching the honey and clover anime without getting misty a few times.

real men know when its okay to cry in front of other people (which is always if it has to do with Rosette and Chrno, or Tomoya and ushio/nagisa/tomoyo, or yukito and the alien girl, or yuuichi and ayu ayu/makoto. But definitely NOT with senjougahara/nekomimi pres/mayoi snail.)

How in the hell is that even remotely sad? It was surprising, but emotional?

PS I really liked Mayoi, so it should have had an affect on me.

Most of that list is bullshit. Madoka certainly belongs in there, but others deserve more recognition. Already mentioned, but Grave of the Fireflies should be number 1.

Toradora? It was a mostly happy series. I don't remember truly crying cause of it.

Where's Kanon (2006). This list has been influenced be the hype effect.

I do agree with clannad being that high tho. But seriously what is Madoka doing on first place?

    02:00 21/05/2011 # ! Neutral (+0.2)

Maybe it's just me, but the list IS the "move to tears" list. Maybe that means something a bit different than just "sad."
Some action series with no actual sad scenes make me cry simply because the main character is a genius and sticks to his ideals better than I'd expect.

Madoka, for me, was SORTA like that. It was definitely moving and jaw-dropping, even if I didn't actually cry until the 10th episode...

Well, even being a "move to tears" list, Clannad should be up top (if not higher).

I know what you mean. I can get teary eyed at
some scenes which are just too awesome. Such as the scene in Giant Robo when this music plays

Or in Heroic Age when everything seems lost, but then they figure out what must be done.

Numerous scenes in the first Gunbuster.

    11:47 22/05/2011 # ! Neutral (0)

I was wondering why anybody would cry watching Gundam Seed as well. The only thing I can think of, and hear me out:

I watched Gundam Seed in English on T.V.
Flay Alstar was a FUCKING BITCH AND I HATED HER.
She died, Kira Yamato cried, I laughed my ass off.

Maybe in Japanese, people didn't hate her.
Flay died, Kira cried, audience cried too?

/shrug. Other than that I can't really see any parts of Gundam Seed that were particularly moving...

WAIT, STRIKE ALL THAT SHIT. I cried when Mu La Flaga sacrificed himself. What a fucking badass. Was kicking everyone's shit in his little gay strike craft, then he finally got a Gundam and had to man up and take the shot... What a guy.

That shit and anything else in Gundam still doesn't make up for how sad it was to watch/see Maes Hughes daughter crying at his funeral was. FMA should be up on that list just based on that scene alone.

Yet another list with many current shows - how quickly otaku forget... Yes Gurren Lagann, original FMA (Maes Hughes) could have been on the list. Natsume's inclusion brings some legitimacy to it either way.

I think Clannad is tooo overated..... I mean..... it was awesome until one or two before last episode....... I mean.... in some point "TINTIN, nothing bad happened, it was just a bad dream and everything is juuuuuuuust fine and perfect"

Watahell =/..... to me it just ruined the thing....

a friend of mine told me it is related to the visual novel... something about dream spheres or watever... but in the anime there is no explanation to that....... so it was just stupid.... =/..... not that I REALY wanted the bad end or something, it just...... a "get out of the jail free card" was just plain stupid.

i mean i get how the ending made people mad, but "not getting it" is just a result of not paying attention.
tomoya's wish (to bring nagisa back to life) was granted because he went through his life helping other people (or bringing them that moment of extreme happiness). That's what everyone was talking about when they say that the city is special.
think about it like a special unlock after getting a high score.
besides its not like a dream, think of it as an alternate ending.
