The Reminiscences of Haruhi Suzumiya (“Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisou”), an original visual novel for the PS3 and PSP, has been released, and is attracting attention for the superb quality of its limited edition CG extras, some of which are visible below.
The videos (which are, to be clear, not part of the game and included only with the limited edition):
CG anime at its finest, although sadly the effect is as usual somewhat spoiled by deficient use of motion capture and clipping issues (although Haruhi’s guitar strap spectacularly bucks this trend).

Well. The Nendoroid PSP game has Haruhi, Yuki and Mikuru.
I'd kill to get a hold of their shader library they used to get the cell-shaded look. I've got the skill to animate characters, but my texturing and lighting abilities have never reached professional level.
I've wanted to make my own 3D fan things for years, but lack the knowledge of where to find those aspects. That's what I get for not being a generalist I guess ^^

Does anyone know the difference between the PSP and the PS3 version of the game?
I'm planning to buying a PSP along with the PSP version, but I'm afraid I'll miss out a lot of content. Or maybe the PS3 version includes all the PSP content, I don't know.
Please don't tell me you have to get both to access the whole content of either game, I need money to buy food and pay bills too, you know?
As far as I can remember, those dual releases on PS3/360 and PSP usually share the same content. Visual novels like "Chaos;Head" might have a different opening song in each version, but that's it. So I think both versions will basically be the same, except maybe lower sprite and background resolution on the PSP, but that should be obvious.
Therefore it doesn't really matter which one you if don't care about the resolution. ^_^
I'm glad I'll never have to pay that amount for anime with my connections.

CG looks nice and clean and all, but the concert for instance lacked any passion, her facial expressions were almost lifeless.
Very true. Nothing like how the anime was. Yet, they put so much detail into other things such as making all the fingerings and hand positions on the guitars 100% accurate as to how it's really played. Could have been a perfect scene if better faces (and an audience!) were included. Maybe one day Japan will master CG.
