What're you smoking? That ain't comedy. That's just disturbing. I know the Japanese love the grotesquely oversized boobs on their 2d chicks but this has gone way way past the line of trying to be sexy or funny. If this is the level they're stooping to to get some laughs there really isn't much hope for the future of anime. But then, they've been doing this for a while so the future of anime already looks pretty fucked up.

@DFC_Hunter The stuff you're watching ain't any better. FYI, my top 3 shows of the season are

1. Kaiji season 2
2. Hyouge Mono
3. Dororon Enma-kun Meeramera

Inb4, durr hurr only watch MATURE ANIME FOR MATURE PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF. Dororon's episodes are self contained and doesn't have much of an overarching plot which means that there's a lot of creative process that goes in these individual episodes to make up for it; the 70s references, the over the top jokes, breaking the fourth wall etc and so far it has succeeded at entertaining me with rather little substance, but that's okay, because it was never meant to be anymore than that.

@DFC_Hunter But those aren't ecchi comedies. Dororon Enma-kun is an ecchi comedy and presented itself as one. It kinda annoys me that people are picking this up without doing any sort of research on what kind of show it is or even the target audience, and when it fails to appeal to people who aren't into full blown ecchi, they start whining.

In Dog Days, the show revolves around the plot and sometimes you get some fanservice.

But in Enma-kun, the show revolves around the ecchi (how varied and farfetched it can get). That's right, the fanservice is the show.

Seriously, some people are this far in the show and are still wondering when the show will get a bigger overarching plot. I guarantee you it won't as this would defeat the purpose of the show. It was meant to be episodic, and will remain this way till the final episode.

Spring 2011 and I'm watching all the above and more, yet Dororon is still my fave (excluding Gintama ofc). It does what it sets out to do, and does it brilliantly; a great balance of pointless fan service and humour.

The others are fine, but there are times when it kinda feel like they're just trying to put enough content to get to the 20 mins - it feels at times like the producers have no RABU and PRIDE in their work. While meramerameramerameramera on the other hand, just does what it sets out to do full blast.

I won't claim to have the most 'intellectual' taste - for example, Sora no Otoshimono is probably my current favourite anime - but the anime I like cannot be criticised in their quality, for they all brilliantly do what they set out to do.

@spoon: not sure, got boring for me after 3 episodes. Its not horrible, but calling it "best anime this season" makes me wonder if you watch any other anime or just have such weird (for me) taste.

Those are that are airing now and are arguably of much better interest than Dororon. I could name a few more with are "comparable", like for example Aria or Astarotte. Also, what do you mean by "season"? Spring? 2011? If 2011, then I'm at a loss for words.

I'm not saying that simple fanservice + fun anime is bad. Sometimes its good to sit down and watch some no-brainer stuff. I'm not sure tho if what they serve is good enough, at least it doesn't suit my taste. Maybe it could be less obvious, like for example Eclair from Dog Days ecchi scene. Some actually (even slightly) interesting story wouldn't be all that bad - SunaBouzu and Demon King Daimao come to mind. Plenty of fun, fanservice and story to keep interested. Thats great balance for me.

I just don't see any reason to watch next EP of Dororon, when there are other shows that offer now-and-then jokes+ecchi. Too much gets too boring. I always thought that bananas are super delicious, but now that I'm eating 3 a day, I'm getting fed up with them. Same with other things (snacks or not).
