President Obama has announced US forces have finally killed hated al-Qaeda mastermind Osama Bin Laden, the man behind September 11th, after tracking him to Pakistan’s capital.
The President reportedly recently authorised an operation to “get” Bin Laden, after intelligence pointed to him hiding near Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad.
US operatives took possession of his corpse after a gun battle ensued when they caught up with him, and had soon confirmed his identity.
Obama himself announced the news:
Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama Bin Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda, and a terrorist who’s responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children.
A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties.
After a firefight, they killed Osama Bin laden and took custody of his body… Justice has been done.

Then, it is unfortunate that he was allowed to simply die his way out of things. Death is always the easy way out, even more so when you believe you'll get to ravage a troupe of virgins each night for all eternity. And whatever useful information was in his head is gone.
Furthermore, this is a great boon to Obama, a vote winner. However, if Bush's second term and Obama's presidency had somehow been switched, it is likely that Osama would have been captured during Bush's term. Similarly, if someone else had been voted into office. It simply took a long time to find the bastard.
