Mio House Model Quite Something

Detailed architectural plans of the various houses featured in K-ON! are nothing new, but for one fan only a meticulous 1:100 model of the Akiyama residence would do.
It remains to be seen whether someone will actually take this to its logical extreme and build one of these houses – it does not seem outside the realm of possibility considering what else otaku will buy on the basis of blind devotion.

at what point do they realize they have a problem? And that his kind of obsessions isn't healthy?
And why are you judging? This model is very impressive.
If it had complete interior as well that'd be amusing. Especially if it even had shimapan.
Who cares if they have a problem, that model is impressive nonetheless, if I didn't knew better, I wouldn't have even guessed it was from a manga/anime.
I wonder if the guy who did this can do a model of the house or the school in Madoka, the architecture in that anime was awesome.
thats shaft for ya, they always have good sets.
Actually not so long ago architects would build this kind of model all the time. Now of course there is the cheaper/faster CG so you don't see it as much. I've always liked looking at the architectural styles of the Japanese houses in anime, and this strikes me as being a pretty cool/fun project.
Lmfao, this guy has an "unhealthy problem" because he has a hobby/probably a career he's great at? You're the one with a problem for having nothing you're skilled at. While you're jerking off to anime, this guy is doing something like this, instead. It's hilarious that you'd even judge him.
Architecture is a MILLION DOLLAR career especially if you're as good as this guy. Obsessions lead to a development of a skill of some sort and this guy has developed a lot.
In the future, he'll have a bigger house , more cars, a happy and blissful life for his children,no problems about food and education for them either, vacation houses, travel abroad, and it's because he has more money than you do. While you just sit there doing nothing but seeing the negative in everything and die just as you are.
its a hobby like any other. like ships in a bottle, it is a very healthy hobby to have
now if the person suddenly decides to build it in 1:1 scale.. that's a different story >.>
I noticed your irony with "ships in a bottle" joke, but i give you still +1.
Some model building hobbies really are healthy, like this is. As somebody said, it is about educating oneself in architecture.
i build papercraft models, mainly to alleviate boredom, some projects have taken long LONG amounts of time to complete, upwards a month, but all in all its fun
this person has the miniature skills, why not build it? unless he didnt, and went out of his way to learn a useful skill.
im placing bets he is an architect, or in school to be one, and decided to make a model out of that house as a project.
Welcome to Sankaku Complex Bitch, grab a Pepsi, it's gonna be a long night...
dont make me lol..
but seriously, i dont remember ever seeing the outside of her house..
That is only because youre a NOOB, hardly a fan at all.
The only thing you notice about K-On is the girls.
Mio's room is on the second floor on the left corner, in the episode she has red & yellow curtains.
duh?!
It has to be at least twice as big for Mio to fit in ¬_¬
What is this? A centre for ants!?
Gokicha-chan could live there...
Looks too small for Nendo Mio to fit in ;_;
Thanks, you got the Zoolander reference ;)
Slow news week?
more like at least 2000 as big since Mio is so fat.
dude i would like to see you do something like...fucking looser
This guy would have a chance on the house design business with a little support, assuming it is on demand (I don't live in Japan.)
japaneserecall.com
Explain the relevance.
Regardless of what motivated them, whoever this person is who made this would have a great future ahead of them in architecture. Good for them!
This'd go nicely with some Gundams!
hell ya!!!
Clearly, this guy makes his living out of this. Pure blind devotion can't possibly be enough to make something this meticulously good.
I don't know who did this but I think I'm in love.
I wanna see someone take on the challenge to make Mugi's family's villa model.
And that Summer House they have at Lake Saimaa in Finland.
Now this is art.
"it does not seem outside the realm of possibility considering what else otaku will buy on the basis of blind devotion" you say? Well you guessed right, I WANT THAT HOUSE!
He should have made one in scale with Figma.
its impressive, but i definitely not going to buy it..
i would love those corner windows in my room. how come they dont make em here like that in US? bummer
that's awesome :D
it's bad, that none of any 1:72 soldier figures will fit in XD
Lol I thought about a new business...
1:100 scale anime figures XD 1.5-1.8cm XD

the space between these lines are apx. 1.5 cm

houses like this in japan is actually rare
Aren't there many like this in suburban areas? I recall seeing lots in this genre in Saitama and the likes.
well it's a pretty rich house but it's all but rare to me ...
Im going to make a house like that someday, anon will deliver pics!
Just perfect for the old train set.
damn! if he'd auctioned it, he'd be freaking rich!
I wonder if a Mio figure would fit in the door...
Hmm... 1:100 scale is little off from usual train model scales...but you can place it to background on a HO or O scale layout.
I was myself to train modelling in early 90`s, but i did choose too big prototype, American steam and early diesels. Layout grew way too big.
Now i would build a N scale Japanese modern electrified prototype layout system, with scratchbuilt structures, including all K-On! girl`s houses!
Yay now I can stalk Mio whiles in my own room.
Poor tree in that little bucket.
How did they find out the exact measures? I'm astonished.
Two possibilities:
1. Watch/pause the scenes where you see her house. The 2D image is already on proportional scale of its own. The rest can be imagined.
2. A house that looks like this actually exist. Went and got measurements there.
Most likely the first case. Doesn't seem so hard.
In any case, would there be a house build like this, I love it just because it's a decent looking house. Don't need to be a K-ON fan to appreciate architecture, wherever the source. :D
Most likely the K-on Official Guidebook has a page showing the actual plan of the house. A lot of Official Guidebooks either for anime, movies or videogames have those stuff in them.
