Madoka fans have been presented with what is in all probability the reason behind the severely delayed/edited 11th episode of Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
The late NicoNico broadcast of the anime showed hitherto unseen scenes – of a rather prescient scene of evacuees housed in a gym, and also some guro foot crushing:
Under the circumstances, it would seem the decision to cancel could hardly be avoided.

It kept me thinking wheter the scene in space with madoka-chan and homura-chan were censored (their bodies, with black clouds) or not.
At least it wasn't cancelled for good...
Cause I really don't think I could have lived with the cliffhanger presented to me if that would have been the case...

I'm pretty sure the whole point was that Homura, not being careful what she wished for (she said she wanted to redo her meeting with Madoka and to protect her, not specifically to rescue her and change fate herself), essentially found herself in a never-ending loop that would ultimately just lead to being overcome by her own despair. In the end, Madoka needed the resolve to rescue her from such a fate, yet in a way that uses a loophole that would prevent even further tragedy from happening whilst conveying to Homura that her actions up to that point were more than sufficient, all of which she managed about as perfectly as the setting would allow.

If she hadnt made that wish madoka would have never gained the amount of power she would have needed to make that wish in the first place. Homura's time travel is wut made Madoka so powerful. So it cant have possibly have been null or voided. Or madoka's wish would not have been feasible.
I honestly would have been happier with an ending at the end of 11, I didn't care for how 12 wrapped it up. That ending was flawed imo, should have been the other way around... =/ Now Homura's wish is basically null and void...
Cancelled in vie of the earthquake events, to resume in the western holy week with the presented ending.

I can understand the shelters for hitting to close to home but did they really need to censor the leg? I thought it got cut off when I first saw that part.
Usually I'd say that censorship and over-sensitivity is bad, but yeah, these people really didn't need reminder of their trauma, so good call.

Uh, it really isn't about the people in the shelters but the people in the rest of the country. Also, if you're taking an extreme example and trying to generalize it to "censoring everything that might somehow offend someone." Just because there are extreme situations where censorship might be all right doesn't mean that it should be allowed in other situations.
You also aren't even considering the economics behind this. If a broadcaster knows that showing this episode is going to raise a huge amount of complaints and put them in ill will with the general public, it'd be stupid to broadcast it. This isn't some kind of "government censorship," it's preserving their ability to do their job. Would you have preferred it if this episode was broadcast and huge numbers of people complained to the point that SHAFT had such ill will that they would have trouble securing their next sponsorships for anime?
And if you're the kind of idealist who believes that there should never ever be censorship for any reason, learn something about the world. Everything seems pretty simple when you're a teenager, but after you become an adult, you start to realize that things aren't so black and white.
