The final episode of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica has belatedly aired, to universal acclaim – with some fans going so far as to call it the “best anime ever,” and the vast majority recognising it as “godly” in more ways than one.
Rarely has an anime ended to such universal praise.

So, did it deliver a happy ending? Hope not.
So it seems.
Wonder how a second season would follow (prequel, sequel, alternative), but given the facts, it would be better to remain as a standalone season. Just my opinion.
Waiting for soundtrack, too.
Damn I was hoping for a happy ending.
evreyone is happy, that's an happy ending.
It could have been worse, much worse...
Happy ending? If you´re not Madoka, or Sayaka, or Kyouko or Homura. Or anyone killed by demons. Or a Mahou Shoujo. Yeah, being a Mahou Shoujo is better than before... but still isnt a desirable job.
Bittersweet ending fits better.
though it makes the spinoff-manga kazumi magica kinda more interesting for a "happy ending", if it plays after madoka, then at least they wont become witches
We all were happy with the ending, weren't we? Lol.
Second season more than likely to be a down to earth everyday school anime. Thats what the creator or whomever wanted.
The ending made me cry, and that's all I will say to this bitter-sweet anime and it's ending...
Acceptance is a b*tch, and letting go of the person you love is equally hard...
*goes off to fap away his sadness at a ton of Madoka futa pics he hoarded from Pixiv*
thats the most disturbing thing ive read on sankaku
Hi, you must be new here!
>letting go of the person you love
>mahou shoujo
>best ever
Error: division by zero. You can't do it in mahou shoujo and remain the best.
Okay UroG, you win.
Now go and make that 2nd season slice-of-life NAO
Rumors about on the interwebs of a prequel manga.
And the ending was kinda sad, what with Madoka destroying and resetting the universe and all...but she did become the most powerful Mahou Shoujo of them all...very clever how she prevented any witch from ever being created since the beginning of time.
There are two Wikipedia says so
its not a rumour, it also says so on the official site of madoka
It was a happy ending for Urobuchi... Deal with it...
Bittersweet! But, being from Urobuchi, its like having an happy ending, yes. :D
You know, I'm going to say something crazy here but. I do want to see more of Madoka and the girls.
I know, I know. It won't be the same. But you know? It doesn't have to.
I know, if a sequel or prequel is just as cruel, it would be repetitive. If it is more tragic or more bad-ass it risks going over the top and becoming ridiculous. If instead it becomes a light-hearted comedy it won't just *be Madoka*
But you know? I don't care, I want a second season, or at least an OVA. I want to see them being happy. It won't have a point, but it would bring me happiness.
there is a sequel, and there is also a "kinda-prequel" , both are mangas. maybe they will get animated too?
Badass end to an awesome anime. It was a little tear-jerking at times.
I have to agree: it was AMAZING!
I thought it was a biter-sweet ending, which is most fitting for the series
I agree, bitter-sweet is the best way to describe this ending... In a way it reminds me of the ending to Code Geass.
Except that geass' ending was actually good.
Also, more happy than bittersweet.except for the fact that Homura still have to fight, everythingis pretty much perfect.
Their eyes are freakishy large, almost non existent nose and mouth. Looks like shit
This weeks sacrifice: Madoka.
And apparently all famous females in history, where Magical girls. Who knew?
a bit misogynistic if you ask me... Oh Japan....
nahhhh
kyubey is male and hes farming them like cattle
Kubey (Cube) which is related to the black cube which is Saturn, what constellation is related to Saturn? Capricorn (goat).
Witchcraft originated back in Babylon before it was dispersed around the world. It is said that it was even originated back in Atlantis when there were the Nephilim were upon the earth, there are witchcraft elite families who claim to be from this line.
Oh, yeah, those who secretly shaped human history are women, but that's misogynist because they're magic. That's fucking retarded.
Most of them who shapped history are men that are in secret societies and there you have their female brethen causing havok in order to destroy the family unit. Girl Scouts are ran by Feminist who want to brainwash them. These feminist are witches that love Theosophist Anne Beasant, Racist Margaret Sanger (lurk for her in a KKK picture), while worshiping mother earth and having lesbian intercourse, mother earth which is (venus, Babylon, Cybele(Black cube)) Lucifer.
Remember the end justify the means.
But Kyubey himself said that without magical girls, humans would still be living in caves. I'm a woman and it doesn't seem misogynistic at all to me. If anything, it's misandrist, lol.
well "best anime EVER" is little bit much for this little one, not? didn't see it yet, but I will do it later. little bit sceptical.
I'd say the best among magical girls genre. Well deserved.
I second that it was well deserved
A Card Captors of the century for a more mature audience
1996-2000 Card Captor Sakura
2010-2011 Madoka
Makes me want to see what will come out to top this predicts a rally good one in 2020 -2021
Either way among the best and truly deserved
This, for mature audience? Sorry but no. It was the case until ep12. Then ep12 killed all "maturity" here. I's not more mature than Sakura or whatever.
How is it not mature however?
It ended the way it had to end, the pieces were in its place, it couldn't end much different without making an ass-pull or worse, just a lame twist.
And you just left out Princess Tutu for no reason?
Well you can't really say that for any anime really. Everyone has different tastes for different genres. When people call Madoka the best anime ever I just assume they mean "in a really long time" or just that they haven't seen enough to really compare.
Go, go, fansubbers! I hope you're all toiling away right now because I'd like to see how Madoka ends and I'm not quite hardcore enough to watch the Raws.
it's already subbed
But, I thought we had one more episode before the final. Isn't there supposed to be 12 episodes?
It was a back to back airing of ep 11 and 12.
Oh, that's good to hear. Thanks!
Saying in advance to the fans... No offense.
It was ok..... Didn't give me the greatest anime ever vibes. I enjoyed the roller coaster ride up until ep 10. I thought that this might have been one of the few gems to pull off such a great story in only 12 episodes.
For a while yesterday while watching this, it made me want to stab Urobochi Gen for delivering such a massive WTF. I felt that my pent up hype was unsatisfied with the loltweest.
On a side note as a Christian, I find it funny that it was shown coincidentally within the Holy Week in between Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Props to whoever came up with that gimmick.
You're (not) alone. Incidentally.
Agreed, the ending let go of the pent up hype and crashed...
Pretty much how I felt about it.
I'm with you there. It was fairly enjoyable but I'm scratching my head over the ridiculous amount of praise it's been getting on SC and elsewhere. It's not THAT far off standard Magical Girl fare, except maybe a bit more angsty. Decent, pretty good for the genre, but nothing to write home about.
omg the way you can feel nothing for stuff like that makes you seem so cool!, i wish i had that wall up. oh well
Yeah the ending didn't have a big impact on me unlike episode 10, still it was satisfactory.
Christians.... on Sankaku Complex...
Don't tell me, what's next? Jews roam on /b/.
Me. °-°
Problems?
