Boo hoo. The VN style just wouldn't work in an anime.
It "would" work, but you need plenty of money for that.
Look at the Count of Monte Cristo, they managed to convert that, assuming they have the budget to spend.
never bothered with that, thankfully.
the style was a complete turn off.
You can't perfectly port Huke's art into animation, unless you're willing to spend a fortune and every episode a year in the making. They did a pretty good job imo. It's dumb to see people arguing about art when they don't know shit about.
Ah, but that's not the argument. It's opinions vs. opinions, which one's the superior one.
End of day: Both sides love Steins Gate
...and they argued passionately ever after. The End.
If only Japan could be that simple
There is a holy war going on in the underground world of Otaku-dom. Choose your side carefully >.>
Err.., the Black Rock Shooter OVA almost did a good job emulating Huke's artistic style imo. Though for extremely satisfying result, the probably need to hire the animator guys who did Gankutsou.
that was a once off thing, though, not a series. if BRS became a series, the art would be disappointing
hopefully not the story writers for Gankutsou though
And your point is ? BRS is not anime series, it's an OVA. Considerably alot more money AND TIME was spent on making of BRS. You can't do the same with an anime series .. deal with it.
"And your point is ?"
gankutsou was fugly man. whatsup with all those kaleidoscopic patterns everywhere. its what those Yanks see when on drugs. thats why they like it some much, feeling high without the after effects.
After-effects to getting high? Do you mean slight munchies and very restful sleep? Because I'm okay with those.
Yank this, fuckhead.
Ya I can't see them doing that for 12 episodes though, it would be too costly to add all that detail. I do think it looks quite good as it is now.
Again someone doesn't know what their talking about. It's a texture overlay. I can see it may cost a bit more but taking longer is definitely not the issue.
After seeing a lot of Huke's art, can we really be safe in assuming it's a mere texture overlay? For that matter, can we even assume that Huke uses PS/Painter to do his work?
Based on your comment I can tell your not an artist. Let me put it this way, there are many ways to achieve the way huke did that. Overlay is fairly the most common way to do that. Another way would be painstakingly doing it by manually painting in the details but that would be inefficient. Also PS/Painter/Illus/Sai can more or less do all the same things such as painting.
go check out his BRS blu ray special
he used the usual painter/ps combination, and grabbed a few metal texture overlays in order to complete that promo art.
quite fascinating IMO
The game looks like Monte Christo anime.
It doesn't take too much to throw a texture layer into Flash using Bitmap Fill.
it doesnt take much to not know what they're talking about
seriously faking agree with u dude, they're who agruing this badass anime is just fucked up in mind & soul.
Indeed, it would be quite some work (not even talking about the budget required) to get the VN art style into animated form I think. I personally like the style of the anime, even if its not the same as the VN.
Plot keeps throwing mysteries at us while there are loads of freakish characters (which I personally love).
Oh, and here I am, still waiting for someone to possibly pick up a translation for the VN - Man is allowed to dream, right?
the miko chick is a guy?
the things the anime did differently from the VN is the iris of the girl's eyes. instead of huke's glow style iris and eyes in the VN, the anime just use normal generic black iris and darker colored eyes
the anime style is way better, imho.
it still sucks, though. but nothing can be done about that, I guess.
How about "as good as"?
Well, not bad in making it anime style without compromising the character designs. At least it's not like Fractale.
"I LIKE CORM"
the eyes are really different compared from the VN and anime.....the anime still rocks :D in my opinion atleast.....
I like the illusion of details the static in VN art gives. It's quite atmospheric in a way. Compared to that anime art seems washed out.
As many has spoken, It's difficult to convert Huke's Art into a full-motion anime, without the budget.
Those patterns and artwork is way too detailed to be animated in a TV series. In a Movie or OVA I would understand as they have bigger budgets and more time per minute of story to work with, but with anime it's just impossible. Although I vaguely remember one anime that uses patterns and is a TV series. Can't remember the title though.
Plus I'm sure most people notice in any anime, the part being animated is always less detailed than static objects like backgrounds.
this is Sayonara zetsubou sensei
Duturu~
ITS A TRAP! :D
Do people even need to discuss? Obviously worst off... It looks cheap now.
Doesn't matter. The is still a good watch. It's pretty much agreed upon that a bigger budget would be needed to translate the art. As an anime, its pretty good, so its a moot discussion.
The mannerisms and voice of a woman...
More feminine than any woman...
Taller than Mayuri and so very thin...
Even looks great in miko outfit...
But he's a guy!!
Damn it~ >,<
People do complain about everything it seems.
dat mingos
I don't see the big deal, the games usually have thinner (not open as much) and the length of the width eyes is usually longer and they changed the hair color whats the big deal?
should have had SHAFT do this anime.
they would know how to make things look quality for sure.
SHAFT will just ruin the seriousness and deep thoughts of this anime.
Never say deep thought when talking about good anime. No matter how true it may be. It will instantly become DEEP.
Just look at how SHAFT did Madoka, they chose quite a non-traditional style there, even for themselves.
It means it IS possible to go around the roads already threaded, it just depends on how talented the staff is. I personally agree on SHAFT being a better choice of studio for this style of anime.
At least he didn't say deep love.
You know what's funny?
Nobody (That I've heard of) Complained about Makise Kurisu's Nendoroid..
lol @ Double standards.
What is there to complain about it? Yes, I know there's something lacking about it but I can't just pinpoint it myself. Please enlighten me.
