Tokyo’s 78-year-old governor Shintaro Ishihara is thought to have been re-elected for a fourth term by a large margin.
An exit-poll breakdown of the voting preferences of Tokyo voters shows the main reason Ishihara is unassailable – old people are either as senile and demented as he is or else recognise a politician who can be counted on to push the interests of old people at the expense of everyone else, and so overwhelmingly vote for him.
Consequently, as most of the electorate is elderly and the electorate as a whole continues to become even older, he is impossible to oust.
The age breakdown of voting preferences, with candidates from left to right being Ishihara, Higashikokubaru, Watanabe and Koike:
As might by now be expected of Ishihara, on the day of his election he was already making public statements hinting at the need for yet another ban, this time on pachinko and vending machines in the capital.
As previously reported, the publishing industry also clearly expects further bans and Ishihara has stated he wants to censor the Internet, so the worst may be yet to come.

Who the fk voted for him? Give me contacts.
Are you planning on sending QB to them?
I won't try to send something that can make his wish became true even easier. Who knows what goals he still have and maybe it'll just speed up the process. Plus...I don't want to see Ishihara in Mahou Shoujo costume
MY.EYEEES I can't unseeit!
It is bad enough that Japan suffered an earthquake and a tsunami. Why in the world did these people re-elect this hypocrite?
Apparently Japanese people DO like to suffer, otherwise why would they choose him?
if you look at the graph, it's the elderly that voted for Ishihara by large margin. This means in order for japan to be truly free of Ishihara's insanity, the 60s and 70s generation need to die off first. Which will probably take same amount of time for Ishihara to die off.
I would form a contract with QB if he granted me the wish of making Artefact the new governor.
A third of younger generations still voted for him, so I honestly can't feel bad for them.
@Anon
"A third of younger generations still voted for him, so I honestly can't feel bad for them."
Well screw them, I want some decent ero anime ripped and fansubbed over here without paying for it.
Over here the government is about to save all your network traffic for the last half year.
Just watch.
He'll raise another stinking issue and plan to ban something again, while everyone makes a big hue and cry over it, leading us back to square one. Why?
Cause you put him there, not once, but 4 times. So start bitching about your stupidity for voting for him (again), Tokyo.
There must be a reason why he won, but guess we will never know cause sankanku won't explain it.
The problem here is that with this banning crap happening in Japan means we won't get any free English translated loli anime or manga because there won't be any and then most likely the US will praise Ishihara and start the same shit but the difference is anime and manga completely geared towards children will also be destroyed.
Japan's long life expectancy is backfiring badly. But at least the young folk can tell the elderly to shut up about the declining birthrates. They're the ones who told them never to have fun.
He won the election by a large margin? BS, I bet that's just propaganda to get people to think that no one can get in his way.
With all the lies that come out of the politicians mouths nowadays who can guarantee me this isn't another one of his fabrications.
No. I'm sending the fucker a bomb. Garunteed to get the job done that way.
He's like a cockroach... very persistent...
if you are serious about it im telling the police about you
-La Nyah
I think Ishihara and QB may be working togeather or they could be one one person, have you ever seen QB and Ishihara in the same room?
Yeah, i wouldn't doubt it. I wager that's the real reason Madoka got cancelled, he doesn't want us to see how to stop him.
Well, the otaku distress generated by this reelection will probably stave the heat death of the universe for quite some time, I guess...
And they say corruption exist only in Russia...
What the hell? Nobody says that.
LOOL, Stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Corruption exists everywhere. Except you just don't hear it as often in some other countries because they're so covered up.
Here in Finland, politicians who got caught of corruption said that it is "the custom of the nation". This custom is apparently different from corruption for some strange reason.
C'mon in The Philippines Corruption is such a part of daily life that it's practically requirement in the culture. Why couldn't the U.S. have dropped a bomb here too, maybe this country could have been different from what it is today *Cries in the corner*
And here I thought that Indonesia has the worst corruption. . . .
Now, I have a different view. . . . .
it's his manipulate skill. I guess he's good at manipulate old people which has a grand number in Japan society.
Tell me about it. from House Of Representative to Kepala Rukun Tetangga / RT , we covered all basis in corruption methods.
Brasil too....
Malaysia too.
Look at how my PM simply erased his name from one of the biggest murder cases of the country.
Ohoho. Hear hear!
Don't forget the abrupt death of Ahmad Sarbani.
One moment, MACC was like "WE GOT THEM MOTHERFUCKERS!". Then for no real reason, someone was found dead in a building of a criminal investigation body. Not to mention, the police promptly concluded it as 'sudden death' even though they themselves weren't so sure what the fuck happened.
But hey, neither of us seem to be able to afford a better country at this moment, so might as well suck it up and hope you don't get entangled with whatever shit is happening this week...
Malaysia? Oh boy if BN win this time I don't have anything else to say other than WTF!
Of course BN is going to win! Just look at how loyal TV3 are as their ass kissing dogs showing 30 minutes segments of "We fucking love you, Sarawak!" in the Evening News which I swear must not be a coincidence (sarcasm) didn't start right when the state announced that there will be an election soon. Now, all I can hope is my neighbours out there won't be fool enough to risk their land from getting snatched and LITERALLY sunk again.
@Anon 04:09
Well, what can we say.. I guess our gov is obsessed with rehashing the same political crime tricks; if you're an influential opposing leader; they'll make you an infamous porn star. If you're on their way of their dirty schemes, they'll push you down from the upper floor of a building and bribe the police to conclude that you were on La-La Land and accidentally dive through the window.
In Italy too, we got prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, which changes the laws for avoiding to go in jail for what he has done. So, we're not different from tbe rest of the world... ^^
Apparently you haven't heard of India.
You have to slip extra cash for EVERYTHING. From passing exams, to getting employment, to even get medical attention.
I'm not saying that only certain countries have corruption. Just saying that corruption is everywhere. The difference is whether or not you realize it.
Burma says "Hi!" as well! ^_^
...
I generally like my land and folk, but the system is just... T_T
You guys must have never heard about Indonesia then.
Even the so called police is also known as kenk chat(in our language which mean chosen villain or the best villain)
If you hate corruption, go protest like the folks in North Africa are doing.
Well, according to the poll it's all the elderly people. So just go to Japan and smack all the old people or something.
if they are even still alive, probably half the voters are the kind of elderly that are "Alive" but can't come to the door.
http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/07/30/japans-2nd-oldest-man-found-to-be-mummified-corpse/
Brings a new meaning to "Ghost Voters".
Self-restraint my foot.
They might as well vote him for PM...
OMG WTF am I saying?!
\headwalls
half of the voters are currently swimming in the sea..
At this rate, anything that this senile old coot doesn't "approve of" will be banned or censored. The publishing industries groveling and willful obedience to him doesn't help....
Oh, wai a sec, 78 he is?
What is the life expectancy in Japan for this ages?
Life expectancy in Japan is like 127
Just wait till next week when he ban's Karaoke, Midnight bars, and even Sex with anyone other than your spouse O.O
It's Japan. There are no more young people.
Old farts.
The sad part is, out of the other candidates he's the lesser evil.
*gets into a cannon and facepalms into a row of palm-trees* i have no idea
Ultimate Facepalms: You're doing it exactly right.
You forget, Japan is filled with old people.
Anyone else notice that the elderly make up the majority of voters?
- Ishitbara mis Webos peludos
- Ishibara my Hairy Balls ¬¬
Old people don't like change, so they'd stick with this asswipe.
After all, the manga/anime ban don't affect geezers who think that adults shouldn't read manga or watch anime.
I hope the elderly made up the majority of VICTIMS in the quake...
"Old people don't like change"
Miyazaki Hayao is one of them..... :<
To those that voted for him, go and drown you fucking cunts.
"...and vending machines in the capital."
Amish people voted for him. Kill them.
The Amish would never vote for him: He's too modern & progressive for their tastes.
Thats the problem, he is a modern progressive. Hes towing the progressive line in Japan.
Sadly to many people actually believe the word "progressive" is something good and not a new word to the same shit the world has had to deal with sense the collapse of the roman empire.
Socialist; Autocratic
Nope not any more today its
Progressive and Democratic!
Same shit, new names.
I'm willing to make a contract to make an eternal curse that will annihilate all retards like this joke of a politician over here for an eternity. >_>
ELECTION FRAUD
Every singlel dumbfuck in Japan
like...the whole japan
Mostly dead people I assume?
I was thinking this myself i wonder how many of the people who voted for him are still actually breathing. Kinda like certain americans got away with.
