Tokyo’s 78-year-old governor Shintaro Ishihara is thought to have been re-elected for a fourth term by a large margin.
An exit-poll breakdown of the voting preferences of Tokyo voters shows the main reason Ishihara is unassailable – old people are either as senile and demented as he is or else recognise a politician who can be counted on to push the interests of old people at the expense of everyone else, and so overwhelmingly vote for him.
Consequently, as most of the electorate is elderly and the electorate as a whole continues to become even older, he is impossible to oust.
The age breakdown of voting preferences, with candidates from left to right being Ishihara, Higashikokubaru, Watanabe and Koike:
As might by now be expected of Ishihara, on the day of his election he was already making public statements hinting at the need for yet another ban, this time on pachinko and vending machines in the capital.
As previously reported, the publishing industry also clearly expects further bans and Ishihara has stated he wants to censor the Internet, so the worst may be yet to come.
The shitstorm continues…
I swear, when the world goes to hell and 90% of the human population dies or turns into zombies, im hunting this guy down and dispose of him. and im gonna film it too, this fucker is the enemy of otakus, my people deserve to watch him suffer
the internet is untouchable >BO
god damn it people should stop electing this old s♥♥t
So…I guess the Japanese and the Americans aren’t that much different in voting for assholes more than once. Well the following will surely happen sooner or later:
-2chan will bitch online like no tomorrow (not that they don’t every minute anyway). Yet do absolutely nothing about it like any other citizen all over the world. Well majority.
-Increase of censorship over every little thing. Give them an inch, they go a mile.
-Further segregation between age groups, ethnic minorities (lol not like there isn’t anyway) and homosexuals.
-Blame will ,for no apparent reason…again, be directed to Americans, Chinese, Koreans, Brazillians or pretty much anyone not Japanese.
