Newly airing sexual education anime 30-Sai no Hoken Taiiku (“Health and Physical Education for 30-Year-Olds”) has become the subject of ridicule for levels of censorship which render the anime all but unwatchable.
The anime itself is based on series of sexual health guide books for the virgin otaku demographic, using a combination of text and moe illustrations to explain the basics of sex to men who might otherwise spend the rest of their lives engaged in pillow frottage.
All the text and diagrams are heavily censored, along with everything else, it would seem:
Even a quote from Wikipedia is completely blanked out…
The rest of the anime is not much better:
A certain amount of spoiling might be expected for the purposes of DVD incentivising, but the level of censorship inflicted on what it is at heart an educational programme has proved decidedly unpopular with most viewers and seems more likely to turn viewers off than persuade them of the merits of buying the disc, let alone actually allow them to learn anything.
