Huke and Nitroplus designed visual novel Steins;Gate‘s much anticipated anime adaptation has aired to a generally positive reception.
Steins;Gate has the distinction of being the most anticipated anime of the season (admittedly not a difficult feat), thanks largely to the strong reputation and highly distinctive visual style of the original.
The original visual novel, released on PC and Xbox 360, features a circle of Akihabara-based otaku in a complex time-travel based science fiction plot.
Fan opinion cooled slightly as it became apparent that the anime had dumped much of the distinctive look of the original for a more generic anime style, but the anime still managed to attract a rather impressive live viewership of 250,000 during its NicoNico premier, making it a definite contender for the season’s top spot.

Well till now, the first episode is about 90% following the original script... with a huge chunk of content removed.
Not nearly as dramatic thought.
I can't help shake off the same feeling - but like any other hoping to be at least mildly entertained.
My words hold credibility, I assure you. I've played S;G and felt it reached a new level of pretentiousness, beyond what N+ is capable of.
Regardless, I'll stick with it until the end. Until the day it flops, where I will then proceed to create "S;G flopped Discuss" threads.
Maybe it's because knowing it's gonna flop isn't as interesting as seeing it flop? Sorta like how knowing the outcome of an event isn't as interesting as watching it happen. /my two cents.

I lost you at credibility. I've read the novel too, as well as I've witnessed the Chaos;Head adaptation failure.
Credibility my ass. I'd say you're no different from the dominating bunch of denouncers.
Any actual "flop" will inevitably be witnessed by those who had read the novel, as it's nearly impossible to transfer the entire chunk of text and context into an animated adaptation. However, this does not, by any means, result in the adaptation being a failure. Just keep your expectations at bay and you'll enjoy it to the outmost. Expect it to flop, and you'll feel disappointment with every following episode.

are you trying to imply S;G is going to pull its own weight? Are you implying that a story-driven novel can be successfully conceived within 12 episodes? Pardon me for thinking of the negative, but I would rather sit on my high chair denouncing titles left and right than wallow in a puddle of filthy series trying to convince myself that obvious shit is not shit.
Perhaps saying I have credibility wasn't the best choice of words. What I should have said was that I am an ultimate, dominating, omnipotent, all knowing being whose foresights will successfully predict the downfall of this pretentious, over hyped, liquid shit spewing title.

the chaos;head adaption was pretty bad so hopefully this one's done better. Whitefox is an interesting studio, they did katanagatari and all. I would have thought they'd manage to keep the art style of the original considering that but it looks nice overall at least. I love nitro + so I look forward to this one.

The anime of chaos head was fucking terrible. People are hoping this is going to be good because of the game and the artist huke.

I was watching Choas;Head on my PSP while in Breaks Between Classes.
Let's just say I said WTF over 1 - 2 dozen times while watching the series.
It's like "WTF is real and not?"
I'll wait until the whole season is out for this series, then give it a shot.
