Police have arrested a man for kidnapping a 2-year-old girl from an arcade with the intent of sexually assaulting her.
The incident took place at a Sapporo game centre (arcade), where two parents who lived nearby took their 2-year-old daughter to the premises whilst they played.
They apparently left the infant unattended for long enough for a 28-year-old man to take the child by her hand and lead her off.
According to police, he took the girl away from the arcade on foot, but as she started crying he took her to another game centre some 450m away where he handed her over to staff saying she was a lost child.
Staff became suspicious and called police, who arrested the man on suspicion of kidnapping the girl with the intent of sexually assaulting her.
As well as criticising the actions of the alleged perpetrator, some concern has also been directed against the parents for taking their 2-year-old to an arcade and then leaving her unattended, not even noticing her abduction.
Some have also expressed suspicion that this may be another case of heavy-handed police arresting a man for the crime of helping a child, as it is apparent from the wording of the report that he has not confessed and that it is the police who consider his intent was to kidnap and rape a 2-year-old.

This case will surely serve as a warning for all other future potential child abductors/helpers to NOT EVER TURN THEM IN UNHARMED!!!
Seriously though, do people have any common sense anymore? This paranoia is ridiculous.
Next rule in the book: "Never touch a child in street which is not your"
However, leave it to the ladies there will be no problem. If a man do it, surely he will be call a lolicon XD
common sense, so rare, it's a superpower
Deadpool is that you?
Overkill so try to change mind get punished hmm
Agreed Actar
1- How did they know that he took her? is there some CCTV footage that show him taking her out of the first arcade? For that matter, can they even prove that he was even in the first arcade?
2- What proof do they have that the child didn't leave the arcade on her own free well? I remember seeing a panicked parent at a supermarket cashier who was trying to look around for their kid.... I pointed to the window and asked the parent if the child standing outside the supermarket waving his hand was theirs and it did turn out to be the lost child. I still don't know how the child left the supermarket, but he clearly was playing a game with his parent.
Another case of Guilty before Proven innocent,
throw him in jail 5 years later let him go ooops were sorry
I agree with anon here. In my opinion, the parents should be the ones punished for being irresponsible towards their child regardless of the intention of the man. I mean he could or could not have wanted to kidnap her. But the point is that the parents should have kept an eye on her.
I see it as the case with the 3 year old in the plastic bag.
the easiest would had been the parents leave the child with a friend or at osme relative nearby that would had been the easiest way
@Anonymous 19:32
I agree, we don't have any proof.
Is that all you can think about?
LOOK! Two arcades only 450m apart!
Did you ever think that this child (Being only two years old) could have easily wandered away from the original arcade looking for her parents. Along the way a this man found her and asked her where her parents were at and she repeated something along the line of maybe game or arcade. So this nice gentleman took her too the nearest arcade which just happened too be the second one mentioned in this story. Not that difficult. Until they have some solid proof he should be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Sadly that isn't how it works in Japan.
My god...you're right! You ppl are selfish, thinking about bad parents and jumpy police, think of the proximity of these arcades!
450m? If that was on Sunshine street in Ikebukuro you'd get another one within 100m! for a total of 3 or 4...
That's what makes more sense to me too. She was crying being lost and the man took her to the arcade because she told him her parents where at an arcade.
Seriously what kind of child kidnapper takes the child to some arcade employee and tell them the kid was lost? It makes no sense. A kidnapper would obviously try to run away with the kid. Why would he abandon his pray after successfully stealing her from her parents? It makes no sense.
True the child could have easily wondered that distance on it's own.
Seems like the entire procedure that Japanese police use to investigate crimes needs to be revamped.
By revamped I mean in the same way Intel revamped their processor line after netburst.
The US also needs to do this though it's system is not completely flawed but more so hijacked by morons.
Though it's penal system probably should be raised to the ground with a Cat D11N and rebuilt from.
I Would Be Pissed If I Actually Was Being A Good Samaritan , And Got Arrested And Charged With Kidnapping, And Intent To Rape A Minor.
Good. Next Time Don't Type Like This Again.
We have proof the parents are idiots tho

Probably he thinks he is Koyomi Araragi the main character of Bakemonogatari and the little girl is Mayoi Hachikuji the Mayoi snail fifth-grade elementary school girl? Trying to help her Lost direction.
Were you arrested for trying to sexually assault the kid with your index finger? Because if you're a man, that is clearly what you were trying to do.
So... Japanese police work under the assumption that the suspect is guilty until proven otherwise.
pretty much.
goes for other things, too, like women accusing a man of groping her on a train.
no evidence needed, he's obviously evil and needs his dick cut off
Yuri Seijin Naoko-san agrees.
Actually, I do believe that this is how the law works in Japan. They *do* have a really high conviction rate, after all...
But the percentage of cases that actually make it from suspicion to arrest to questioning to trial is minuscule at each step. So, in the end, their actual arrest to actual conviction rate is much smaller per capita than the U.S.
Basically the D.A. only goes after surefire cases, hence the high trial -> "guilty" verdict percentage.
This guy will be let off with no charges at some point. No way he makes it to trial unless they have solid proof or some "confession". (Of course, that brings in a whole new question of "fairness", but that's for another day)
Shouganai zo. Welcome to the land of bureaucracy. And Americans think we have it bad.
He'll be let off with a warning as if the police have shown him leniency when the police are the ones who made the mistake.
Unless it's a coffee enema case...
'A loli is the in the middle of the road, and a truck is heading toward her'
Do you:
a) dash toward her and carry her to safety and risk being accused of moleste a child
b) pretend you didn't see it and not get yourself involved
c) what about...
nevermind, the loli already got hit by the truck and died at the scene because of the 5 seconds hesitation...and you feel guilty for the rest of your life because you didn't save her when you could have, all because of fearing what stupid people and society would do to you...
Automatic "Bad End".
Blame the society.
It's a good thing that Hiro (Heroes) didn't get arrested when he froze time and saved the loli who almost got hit by a truck in the first season. The series might just ended after that if the director actually know how the "law" works in Japan.
Archer might have encountered that event in his timeline. He put it as a part of "I couldnt save everyone" No wonder he is so bitter.
I choose D)
Save the loli and keep it
Can't keep the loli if you get locked away in a jail.
actually committing a crime gets you less of a punishment than committing them in japan
I would just sit and watch, laugh and then point out to the retarded society why I didn't do a thing.
And sleep peacefully without any guilt.
The "Children below the age ## aren't allowed to enter the Arcade centre" rule should also be added with "Children with stupid parents..".
Then they would just leave the kid standing outside the arcade. And the first guy who calls the cops because of the clearly unsupervised little kid gets beaten by said cops for trying to abduct it.
Yeah this is obviously bullshit. Leading a girl somewhere by the hand doesn't mean you intend to rape her. He could have legitimately been trying to help.
There should be a childbearing license, I mean, really.
I couldnt agree more with this... as a matter of a fact, pareting lessons should be MANDATORY in all civilized countrys!
Do they have footage of him kidnapping the child or are the police just accusing him of the act with no evidence to back it up? It'll be a real shame if the guy is innocent but still gets in trouble for doing those irresponsible parents a favor by helping their child.
If he wanted to rape her, he would've done it instead of handing her over to staff at an arcade.
And why would the staff contact the police to arrest a man that brought a lost child to them?
I was thinking the same thing he would have dragged her into a bathroom or threw her in the trunk of his car etc.
If there are any CCTV cameras they could prove guilt or innocence.
Most of the arcades at least the one in the US have them so the evidence is there.
You need to get those tapes right away when you think a crime has been committed as the tapes could be recorded over.
The HD ones work like a tivo they use a FIFO.
Suspicion is worth less then dog flop as it's almost always wrong.
See you answered yourself. There is more to this story than reported, the person who called the police had more of a reason than we know to call. Maybe the guy was acting suspicious or he had been seen in the area before scouting out kids, who knows. There was definitely something that threw up some red flags for him to be arrested.
