    Just pirate a copy of Sexy Beach Zero or something if you're dying for pixellated sex.

    Otherwise, if you didn't notice the jiggling, then SO4's gameplay probably sucked too much for you to keep.

    This actually makes me NOT want Star Ocean 4 and now I'm don't think I'm going to buy it. I don't give a crap about what's in the other games, but I actually followed the Star Ocean games. Star Ocean 2 is one of my favorites. So it sucks seeing it degrade into a fanservice game because that usually means they worked more on that then the aspects that originally made the game enjoyable (like when they made FFX-2). As you can see my game otaku side is winning here! >_<

    It was not bad. Story and characters were typical Star Ocean (not great, not original, but OK). Cool scenario, civilization is annihilated in nuclear war, and mankind's last hope is in the stars.

    Good battle system, very action packed. Item synthesis sucked because you had to be on your ship to use it. Pretty good, one of the better RPGs for the HD consoles. The English dub kinda sucks so you might wanna go for the international version if you own a PS3.

    It has better battle system, though. But yeah, there are things that were traded of for some useless things. Although, the fanservice in end battle screen is not one of them. It's the braindead cutscenes resulting from half of the cast being braindead themselves.

    Yeah it's just that teams for these games are a lot smaller than people think, and when you set people aside to make sure the tits and ass are moving to otaku standards, that means you're probably sacrificing time that could be spent on something that would actually make it a better game.

    If you take away part of a team to have them spend time on T&A then you have obviously sacrificed writing. You have set aside time in the game's schedule to plan for this. It isn't just 3D designers who are involved. The concept artists had to work previously to plan for this when they could have been using that time in visual development to help enhance the story. I don't think people realize exactly how small these teams are.

    Considering that pretty much all the games problems are related to writing, I don't think that T&A are to blame here. If there only was some reason behind characters like Meracle, Lymle and Sarah. And if Edge would have a slightest hint of personlity, it would be considered to be among the top RPGs this gen.

    It's still pretty damn good despite its flaws.

    Star Ocean always had fanservice, how many times did you fap to Celine's character portrait in second story? Be honest. SO4 is actually a good game, aside from Nier it's better than pretty much all the trash SE has published this gen.

    Square has had a lot of good games this gen. People like to bitch for stupid reasons, and most of those reasons are hypocritical when you consider the games they do like.

    Also, Square has made VAST improvements to it's Final Fantasy games that people seem to ignore in favor of focusing on the few things they didn't like. Take FFX just for an example. There were a LOT of great aspects to that game, but all I heard were people bitching about Tidus' voice actor. That's like when people said they hated FF7 because Sephiroth killed Aeris.

    Granted, there are games I didn't like, like FF12 (mainly for story and character reasons,) but that's not going to stop me from giving credit to the improvements they did make to FF. People think them disliking a game for superficial reasons means that SE sucks. That's just stupid.

    Unless you're talking about FFX-2. Everyone is allowed to say that sucked.

    FFX had great characters and the story was amazing and much better than games than had come out previously. Maybe you didn't like them, but that doesn't mean they weren't written well. I hate whiny emo heroes like Cloud and Squall but they were well written characters.

    And FFXIII was a good game also. SE is known for its cut scenes, and those were great. Every single game that came out since FF8 people have been bitching about the cut scenes being more movie than game. They are there to enhance the game and have been a staple of FF for years now. The fighting was fun and it was much more strategic than many of their other games. If you were "chipping away for five minutes" then you were doing something wrong. And the story was interesting. You not liking it doesn't make it a bad story.

    All I'm hearing from you is "I didn't like it, which makes it a horrible game." I can at least acknowledge that me not liking aspects of a game doesn't make it horrible, as it might be something other people prefer.

    Nice red herring. FFX wasn't part of this gen, but it sucked anyway. The world itself wasn't bad, and the battle system was acceptable, but the characters completely ruined it. Horrible characters in an RPG = fail, period.

    And what of SE's great games this gen. FF13? The writing in that game was so bad that just watching the cutscenes will make you dumber. And the battle system was novel, but that doesn't make it good. Sitting on your ass watching your characters chip away at a random encounter for five minutes is not my idea of a good time.

    So... SE's good games this gen:

    SO4
    Nier
    The World Ends With You (not amazing, but it's OK)
    The various DS ports / remakes like Front Mission, Chrono, Dragon Quest 4-6. Doesn't seem like I'm missing anything.
