Magical puella fans are delighted to see that Shaft has already drastically reworked scenes from Puella Magi Madoka Magica’s 10 episode, with the online NicoNico Douga broadcast differing substantially from the earlier TV version.

Shaft’s trademark quality issues are fortunately none too evident even in the TV version.
Reportedly at least some of the motivation behind the various broadcast delays and cancellations suffered by Madoka is due to Shaft’s notoriously tight (if not reckless) production schedules not surviving contact with the quake.

Considering that this happens with practically all of Shaft's previous works, Negima!?, Bakemonogatari, etc... this is hardly surprising. As they say, what you see on TV is only the preview for the BDs/DVDs.
In my opinion, it's a solid tactic. Only time I had a problem is with Bakemonogatari and that episode that was mostly stills of the background ( reminded me of Seikon no Qwasar). But for the most part, the TV broadcasts are pretty good anyway.
Personally I like some of the images on the left more than the revisions on the right...

Exactly, the image comparison isn't as drastic as I thought it would be. In fact a lot of them are so minor/varied taste that it feels like a non issue.

Who cares if they make a mistake here and there or occasionally fail to meet the deadlines? The incredible art style and vivid visual atmosphere give me a mental hard-on.

Honestly, the changes seem superficial and unnecessary. But I'm all for improvements not matter how small.
Makes you wonder how different the DVD will be from the tv.

What does shafted mean? So what does it mean when Madoka got shafted? Also, I heard rumors that Madoka might be cancelled because it was too violent/bloody or something. Will it really be cancelled? D: Thanks :)
I like the changes, but they could just broadcast the rest on Nico Nico until things get better. I'm sure no one will complain if they do it like that until it can go back to TV...
they don't even have ep11 and 12 ready, so there is nothing to broadcast so far
I appreciate the effort but in a way, it's kind of annoying. I wish they try to get it right the first time, GAINAX style or Bones style.
I might actually stop watching Madoka right now so I can just watch the FULL version afterward. >_>;
Yeah Gainax are perfect every time. What was it? 3 or 4 different blu ray releases of the Eva 1.00 (then Eva 1.01 and Eva 1.11) with "improved video" each and every single time?
Because well, yeah, GAINAX /totally/ made the Evangelion movies.
Studio Khara, jackass. Hideaki Anno founded it after he left GAINAX and so far the only productions they've made are the Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
On a side note, I expect Khara to start making Gunbuster-tier anime after they're done with Rebuild of Evangelion, as they're basically GAINAX minus the trolls.
