Moeblob fans have been shocked to find that K-ON! has been picked up by Japan’s Disney Channel.
As might be expected, Japan’s Disney Channel normally shows family-friendly US-made Disney cartoons, drama and films, with some mainstream “anime” content (in Japanese usage all of Disney’s cartoons qualify as “anime”).
For them to show late night anime is rare indeed, and K-ON! has been given three slots a week, two of which are at the (for K-ON!) unusually early hours of 9 and 10PM.
Whilst traditional K-ON! fans may not be the core audience of Disney programming, they have been all but unanimous in recognising this as a major feather in Mio’s cap.

I think Madoka could teach kids what the lure of devil would look like. A cute thing making your wishes come true for a contract, after that it goes haywire and your life goes don the drain und you lose your soul in the end.
It could easily revolutionize the way the church is approaching young believers :)

Didn't Disney have the transformation scenes from Sailor Moon changed? If those sickening idiots make a fuss over something as tame as that, surely they would have something to say about some of the more risque scenes in K-ON! such as he bath scenes, the implied panty shot, or even that one small scene where Yui embarrased Sawako by making noises as if she was being molested?
Dear god I hope Disney isn't going to have any influence, even indirectly, on any further continuation of the series.
Disney never dubbed Sailor Moon. Disney had absolutely nothing to do with Sailor Moon. It was first dubbed by DiC for the Fox Kids channel (now Jetix), and then the S and SuperS season was dubbed by Cloverway for Toonami/Cartoon Network.
I definitely remember something about disney and sailor moon and having a problem with the transformation sequences. It was relatively recent too (compared to how old the show is anyway... maybe 6-7 years ago?).

Wow all they did was make it so that sailor moon faded out a bit my replacing her bare skin with a glitter cover up that's similar to the background.
That falls in the whole no big deal category for me.

Sailor Moon was on our Fox TV Station from Mexico around 1992. I think DIC cut like 5 shows and or a lot of scenes but their voice actors using English were better than the original Japanese VAs. Cloverway and the rest really didn't do Voice Acting well at all they just read the lines. It was nice to see the shows in English but it just wasnt the same as the original DIC ones 1-45 minus the cut shows as emotion and attachment goes. That makes Sailor Moon Series 20 years old and also btw it was one of the last shows to air that used Cel graphics, hand drawn painted clear plastic to make Anime. Its all computer after that 1998 +.

It's cool Disney likes it, but let's get real, I also tend to smack people in the head for liking the DIC release of Sailor Moon.
Go ahead and watch it on Disney if you must, but don't come crying to me if you have issues afterwards.

The one Miyazaki movie Disney never licensed in the US was Omohide Poro Poro (Only Yesterday) because it had a brief mention of menstruation in it.
What's next? Then Disney also has to pick up Kanon (2006) and Clannad (+After Story).
I don't think it will happen somewhere soon, but that's an interesting prospect.
