Top 10 Character Goods It’s OK for a Guy to Have

miffy.png

Japanese asked what popular girly character goods they think it permissible for a male to possess reveal a surprising degree of tolerance – for non-otaku goods at least…

The ranking:

1. Disney (9920)

2. All are NG! (4644)

3. Usavich (3824)

4. Snoopy (3487)

5. Ghibli (2427)

6. Rilakkuma (1649)

7. Cheburashka (324)

8. Sanrio [Hello Kitty] (250)

9. Suzy’s Zoo (179)

10. Miffy (136)

The goods included are those which are marketed to women and so are manifestly unmanly to possess, explaining the lack of creepy otaku goods.

It is not hard to guess where such goods would place were they included – likely somewhere below “Carebear,” dead last with 72 votes.

in my opinion REAL MEN buy whatever they want! regardless of masculinity issues

if you're secure enough of your own masculinity you shouldn't have any problems with this

now excuse me I have some my little ponies' dolls to purchase~

Real men only ride things that are proven to be as manly and awesome as you?

My body is ready but my mind is uneasy.

Still, I do what I want!

I still have my Ayanami Rei sheets and even though I never used them I'm proud to have them.

I don't own anything anime related part from that though... and some anime games.

I've heard being "truly cool" once described as simply not giving a fuck about what other people think.

In that case, a guy owning and displaying any manner of things considered girly can be the epitomy of "coolness" as well, as long as the guy doesn't give a fuck what others think and is secure in his masculinity.

You can apply that to a lot of things, anything it would be considered "unbecoming" to own (like otaku goods and such). Although the irony here is that careing about weather or not you seem cool means you care about what others think, meaning you are automatically "not cool".

However if you simply don't care, then you are truly free to wear or own whatever you want because you are free from the prison of other people's pre-concieved notions about masulinity, femininity, or what is proper.

Freaking AMEN! If there's something I can't tolerate is when people are condescending when they find out you don't follow the trends. FUCK YOU. I buy, read, watch and play whatever the hell I want. I rather not be a pussy sheep like those people.

its like how pink is a manly color, due to the fact that you have to be very comfortable with your sexuality to wear something like a pink shirt.

If a guy is overly concerned about what is "okay" to wear as a man, I assume he's gay and trying too hard to hide it.

I don't know. I think by Disney it is mainly refering to your classic Disney characters-- Mickey Mouse & Co. A lot of clothes in Japan have Disney prints, yes even for guys. I myself bought Disney series polo... and it looks awesome :P

Real men define masculinity with their own two hands. They pave their own way without adhering to the often silly definitions vomited up by others. And they sure as hell never look to the solipsistic female half of the population for what it is to be a man.

    fucking agree

why should people bother what men wear? i mean i find it stupid to keep pushing the stereotype that all men have to be masculine, act tough, and curses all the time.

wear what you want, don't let people decide for you

Female commentor by the way- This is messed up. It socially acceptable for men and wemon to wear clothing with charecters that appear in childrens' shows geared towards mostly preschoolers and under, but its not okay for them to wear clothing with more adult themes?
I can completly understand not being allowed to wear shirts with porno grrafic images of japanese swear words(foreign swear words seem to be acceptable in japan) but being critised for wearing cool looking senisble anime themed images that are apparently geared towards adults rather than kids nowadays.... bull

If I saw a man in a miffy or hello kitty shirt I wouldn't make eye contact...

A man out in public in a Hello Kitty shirt probably has confidence to spare. He probably doesn't give two damns what any female thinks (sign of an alpha). I can understand why you wouldn't even feel worthy to look upon him in all his glory.

some manly people don't agree with this.....like SANGER ZONVOLT! And now i will quote a comment from youtube said by a friend:
"I was listening to the spice girls when Sanger came out of my screen, punched me in the face, slashed my computer in two, which exploded, and from it´s ashes, a new pc full of anime and SRW games appeared.

Then he turned to me and said "SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO MY THEME"! and so i have been doing so non stop since last year.

I dare not change theme just in case he comes back and decides to finish the job."

So people Sanger only wants you to to REAL MANLY THINGS.On second note Elzam comments you that REAL MEN RIDE EACH OTHER!
