Madoka Cancelled

What a legion of detractors could not accomplish, an earthquake and a flooded reactor have in a stroke – most upcoming broadcasts of Madoka have been cancelled.
No particular reason has been offered other than “self-restraint,” and it is not clear whether it will take the form of a simple postponement (this seems to be the prevailing notion) or the skipping of at least the 11th episode (one broadcaster apparently plans to do just this).
The manga and possibly the disc releases have also been subject to various postponements.
The decision to cancel the broadcasts has come in for more than a little criticism, particularly from fans who were counting on the series to lift their spirits after the incessant deluge of earthquake and reactor related news, and even more so from those in areas of the country completely unaffected by the quake or the power shortage.
The prevailing notion amongst publishers now appears to be that anything popular or fun must be cancelled, whether or not it has anything to do with the quake…

its an anime, and its not a prime time one, i hate to say it but its fucking off the air and not likely to come back. don't get your hopes up, that way they wont be crushed.
Yeah, it's not like it's one of the most popular series in a long time, who's BD and DVD preorderes topped the Japanese market.... oh wait...
did i say it wont come out? i said its off air ant not coming back, i didn't say it will never finish.
Dude, do you have any idea how popular Madoka is?
you can always make a contract with me so the anime won't be cancelled in any station /人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\
god damnit QB, getting to me in my weak moments...
i'm really tempted to make one this time
I'd do it, put me in a dress Zombie Desuka style anytime, I'll put sum witchez down. In between eps of course.
i can crossdress for ya QB :P
.......shit. Kyube's got us there.
Everything will be all right. Mahou Shoujo deaths will cheer us up... What? They're not airing!? That's too bad. :(
you have to be a cute lil loli in order to make the contract tho :(
does anyone know why i dont have the comment rating system? anyone know how i can turn it back on?
I think its just that we can't see our own comment's ratings for some reason or another. At least I can't see my own ratings and when I log out I can't see any Anon's ratings.
Misleading title is misleading. Good job.
You must be a newfriend. This is nothing compared to horrible horrible traps in the older galleries.
I miss those
I too miss the galleries we used to get. Most 2ch goddesses plz...
I consider what he writes Yellow Journalism. I read it just for the lulz mostly, but his writing is intent on eliciting reactions
seriously? you get pissed off by information that's purposely presented for particular reactions? you must not be able to read anything then...
i wouldn't even called that thin-skinned, that's just retardedly obtuse
I definitely pooped a little.
Or at least somesort of a vague user name.
But, doest it even matter much?
We will read the article anyways, since we come here for the sole purpose of looking something to read. WWWWWWW lol.
I don't mind, I consider him someone trolling for lulz.
The people whining here must be incapable of reading anything in mainstream press these days without having fits of rage... Seeing how the current mainstream press is disgustingly biased and more than half lies, you guys must be pretty limited in what you can actually read without having an aneurysm.
A lot of trolling Anonymous have found SanCom. Wonder were they came from.
Anyone who regularly visits the site and takes the headlines here at face value is a complete fucking idiot. Personally I enjoy trying to predict the basis of the misconstrued title before reading the article.
"Cancelled" was the bait, and boy you guys flock worse than vultures.
That's what you get for killing shoujos!
We all die eventually so what the hell, am I right?
You're getting pretty Fox News over here.
in other news "sankaku apologizes for misleading title" :)
I'm SORRY.
Oh my god, if this site goes the way of fox news all hope is lost.
Oh wow. That's a pretty fitting description.
well, I agree in some news he is fast, but in some others late xP.
Hm.. I understand it and I hope they will can recover of the whole thing :/
i dont quite understand
mourning is fine, but why force it on people?
you can turn off tv and mourn all you want
should you take all the fun away from depressed people who want to forget how shitty things are atm?
will augmenting peoples sadness and possibly inducing some suicides make the quake any less horrible?
im not asking to send gilbert gottfried to japan to cheer them up, but why take away all the fun?!
@blaqcat
no, not until its over
it is over
everybody put on your sad face and die
yes, thats how a crisis is managed
definitely
Broadcasters: "How DARE you think of something UPLIFTING and FUN while facing the devastation of our country. It's your duty to wallow in misery until it's over!!"
I second that, or at least a part of it. Shooting yourself in the leg for solidarity is useless, harmful even. The world still goes around.
@23:56 You forgot Gilbert Gottfired.
Fox News and MSNBC both had shitty coverage of this--Fox broke coverage the day of for Glenn Beck's idiotic tirades, and MSNBC seemingly didn't want to interrupt normal programming at all (not Joe Scarborough talking to assholes from Wisconsin at least) even when there was a threat to Hawaii and California. CNN was the only channel that had decent coverage. Not really related, just a thought.
Anywho, I always thought this anime was ridiculously overrated--lots of shock value, but at the end of the day it was one of the stereotypically dense magical girl anime with too much terminology and in-universe rules and not enough substance. When I see a show like this I think of Nagi's manga from Hayate no Gotoku, so ridiculous that no one but Isumi is able to get it.
Still, no matter how overrated it is, it sucks that it (and other shows) were postponed/cancelled like this. I'm already burned out from watching coverage of the disaster and I don't even live there. I'm sure it can't be healthy to be constantly reminded about how dire the situation is. Everyone needs a break once in a while, and I hear panic is spreading in Tokyo--wonder why. Well, obviously the whole nuclear meltdown thing has something to do with it, but constantly being reminded of it can't be helping.
It always has been.
You fags should have written that it's only about ep 11, and delayed, not cancelled.
No!! Call me selfish or whatever, but this show is so damn good I can't wait to see the next broadcast!! Dammit!!
Everyone loves sankaku's trolls but mess with Madoka and you're unleashing the rage of the people lol. Good thing it's not canceled though
Awww, I was hoping we'd get an episode on the actual Walpurgis Night! (March 31st)
In any case I hope it does come back. Even if it doesn't, we'll see the episodes eventually, even if they only go straight to DVD. Frustrating when there's such suspense right now, though.
I think Shuubi has the right idea od them postponing it to match up with Walpurgis. (or at least I hope)
I think most ppl that stayed here long enough would've know that Sankaku is the worst place for serious news.
Tragic anime is delayed by tragedy.
Well, isn't it ironing?
i think they need to change, as the article says, they need stuff to lift their spirirt, and make them forget for a while, but i don't think Madoka is the right series to do so. it so dark, that i do find it comprehensible.
That's not really the point... They should try to continue average life, how does not matter.
