US Comedian Fired for “Crude” Quake Jokes

American comedian Gilbert Gottfried has been sacked from his job of voicing a duck after making a series of “crude” and “insensitive” jokes about Japan’s recent earthquakes.
The jokes in question, published as a series of Tweets and already deleted:
Japan is really advanced. They don’t go to the beach. The beach comes to them.
What do the japanese have in common with @howardstern? They’re both radio active.
Japan had put out this urgent plea….” PLEASE SEND US A FEW BIlLION RUBBER DUCKIES!!!!!”

I'm really not such a fan of firing comedians for crude jokes, but this guy's sense of humour is so gay that it's hard to take pity on him.
Crude and insensitive jokes is kind of what he does but yeah... there's a line in the sand.

I have lost all respect for Gilbert Gottfried. In fact, I'm planning on auditioning for the new voice of the Aflac duck.
In fact, it turns out this isn't the first time Gottfried make a horrible joke after a disaster. He made a joke about 9/11 three weeks after the WTC fell. And in New York, no less.
On the other hand, Lady Gaga has started selling wristbands with all proceeds going to the relief efforts in Japan.

I liked him when he was on Hollywood Squares. Especially after the "YOU FOOL!" incident. But whatever respect I had for him is now gone. But yeah, he's on my list of people I want to sakujo. Along with Jay Leno and Shintaro Ishihara.

I only laughed a little bit at the very first joke since Yahtzee (Zero Punct) made a joke about his town Brisbane going something like... "Well the waters of Brisbane got tired of waiting for people to hit the beach and decided to bring the party to us!"
But I'd say that this is a bit more serious...
only problem with that is it wasn't the beach water that came up, it was the river water that came down.. so it was a poor joke to begin with.. but can't expect too much from a queenslander..

lol hes mean and careless but the jokes would have gone over fine if he had said it like 3 or so months down the road. though sadly they wouldn't be as recent and therefore not as amusing. I may be bias (since I do like gilbert) but overall I think a good portion of the ones posted above were funny though there were some I didn't much care for.

They're just reacting to his jokes without knowing anything about him really.

Yeah that's the thing about him, he has no problem making fun of something as soon as it happens. He understands that even in the worst crisis a joke can be found. A lot of people in the world need humor to make it through a hard time anyway.
I think it was pointless to fire him, because as everyone in this country know, that's just his comedic style.
