Joining the ranks of fellow Americans keen to joke about the misfortunes of the yellow races or ascribe racial guilt to the Japanese for Pearl Harbor/whaling/non-whiteness, Family Guy producer and writer Alec Sulkin has been caught pointing out that Japanese deaths don’t matter as their ancestors once bombed a naval base at Pearl Harbor.
That the comment was made on Twitter hardly requires explanation:
“If you wanna feel better about this earthquake in Japan, google ‘Pearl Harbor death toll.'”
He soon deleted the joke and offered the usual trite apology for getting caught.

I don't understand where all these stupid remarks are coming from. I mean I'm all for making fun of anything regardless of the situation, if there was a reallllly funny tsunami joke I could think of I'd say it, but this pearl harbor stuff and saying people deserved to die is just ignorant.
Any time there is a disaster anywhere some stupid dick shits are going to make asinine comments like this. Doesn't matter where or who, it will happen, and every single time its going to be some huge dumb ass. These people are all across the world, are nothing more than scum, and should be treated as such.
Seeing how he is a family guy producer as well, it is clear he just loves attention like the pathetic little pos he is.
I didn't ask to be born in this world, nor live with assholes who try to ruin it with their egos/opinions/dialects/disrespects/money/greed/power but I choose to survive in this world stepping on all the pieces of human shit like 'which are afraid' to make HONEST asinine feelings publicly and try to be "Mr/Mrs Righteous" and want MONEY to live a Selfish lifestyle... aka Politicians and Criminals.
But then again did I live in a Era of time which I declared a surprise attack on someone else country from BEHIND... like a coward and jump on the bandwagon side of... "The people who killed 6,000,000 Jewish" people for no reason at all supporting Xenophobia/Nazi beliefs...?
Karma you say. Maybe if I believe in it.
Natural Disaster. Scientific term for it.
What really happened.
LIFE in the wrong area makes your society go the way of the Dinosaurs. You go extinct but you still try to live there...?
Asinine Stupidity, hands down.
But if the producer is afraid to say something, don't say it at all.
I'm glad he said something, I couldn't hate him at all for being Honest openly. In fact I'd vote for him as the Next President of the USA if possible now.
Fact: German Nazis sheltered Chinese from Japanese, with the swastika being a symbol of hope in China. The pact between Japan and Nazi Germany was pretty much a convenience as a pact of having a common foe, nothing else, they did not share beds with one another, they did not provide military assistance to one another. Its pretty much the same as the western + Soviet Russia pact during the 2nd World War.
Declaration of war was somehow delayed with lines of communication being poor. America knew it was coming, just that it did not know when. The bureaucrats chose to ignore the signs. They were prepared for war and were asking for it but did not want it and did everything they could to pretend it wasn't coming. They just deny seeing what is clearly in front of their eyes.
And putting the whole xenophobia consideration whereby wiping out portions of a race over their religion, there were attempts to negotiate a peace treaty but the Americans refuse to make one amendment to the unconditional terms of surrender whereby the Japanese renounced their emperor as a God. As a result the Americans decided instead that such a small matters was far more important the the lives of 100's of thousands of people and decided to drop nuclear weapons on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki. How's that spin on defining Nazi USA?
I clap my hands to the victors of world war 2 and it is the victors that define the contents of the history books. But know that years later all the facts will surface and the educated will have their turn at defining the facts. What makes USA any better than Nazi Germany? Simply put, they won the war.
FUCK YOU SHIT HEAD!
Typical of Americas tbh.
Pearl harbour was what 3000?
heroshima and the other one was 50k
and the quake was say 15k or more
by that maths and the general feeling in america japan gets to slaughter 62000 just for the sake of karma?
No, it's only typical to idiotic Americans, please don't assosiate me with that idiot
No, this is only typical to Democrats. Only Democrats make such stupid jokes
Democrats make the stupid jokes but republican do the actual killing...
Only people that firmly associate themselves with a political faction can utter sentences so fundamentally stupid and ignorant...
You forgot the tens of thousands they killed in China and Korea as well as the fact that they were allied with Hitler... but, okay, whatever.
guess he forgot that the US made up the difference by killing over 250 thousand people my dropping the bombs?
also if you try to equal the destruction of a military naval base decades ago to random civilian casualties you need therapy
on other news, the radioactive cloud is out of the bag and heading towards north america
take that for the bombs
and so now we can all feel just great
right?
250k is way too much... and Jesus Christ, did you forget that Japan instigated the war? What about the rape of Nanking? Bataan Death march? Manila Massacre? Building of the Burma Railway? But yeah... yeah... dropping those bombs. Shame on the US. yeah...
Actually 250k is an underestimation, the tokyo firebombing campaign that preluded the atomic bombs killed half a million and made a further 5 million homeless, this being purely civilian targets.
Just show how poorly educated Americans are. Did he forget what they drop on us twice or do they not count as lost lives?
Yeah man, not like it was retaliation or anything. Not like Japan was the aggressor. Not like the concept of war was different back then. What about the bombings of Dresden and even Tokyo? Never bring those up do you. Just as many lives lost, but it just doesn't have the impact of the nuclear bombs. Idiot.
Not like we as a race has advanced socially to a point where we actually try to help each other, regardless of nationality...
I don't care where you come from, and I don't care if the southern hillbilly stereotype is true or not, you ARE that stereotype...
Living in your backwards reality while the rest of the western world advances... Enjoy!
Bad man make arguments, must resort to trying to sound righteous and intelligent. that show him.
I say fire the bastard on the spot. Even for someone behind Family Guy, there's a limit to how far you can go.
Not to mention that the earthquake itself probably killed more people than Pearl Harbor (considering how many are still missing), but it still killed 100 times less than US' nukes at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Does THAT make you feel better, douchebag?
The Indonesia Earthquake/Tsunami, which is similar to the current Tsunami killed more than 100.000. So expect the same or even a bit lower.
Indonesia Tsunami
9,1 Scale, with the Tsunami reach of 9Km and 10 meter High
Japan Tsunami
8,9 scale, Reach of 24Km and 10 meters high
Indonesia
No tsunami warning system or ability to worn the general populace of impact
Japan
$1 Billion Tsunami/Earthquake warning system with countdown to impact and wireless speaker towers for warnings and preparedness and trained starting at a young age for such events
I highly doubt the death tolls will be similar.
Great news: Kenshiro is on his way. Sulkin is already dead.
Of course Sulkin is already dead.
I sent agent 47.
You sent 47? Damn, should have known about this before sending Duke Togo, he doesn't take refunds...
We should even sent Gatz to rip his ass.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki never happened.
Individuals shouldn't be associated with crimes committed by other members of their nation. If you look at people living in your own country, it's easy to see just how different everyone is.
This alec sulkin is clearly a dumbass who tweets without thinking. A low life like this can only repentant by going to ground zero quake area and help out.
Don't forget the fire-bombing. But, ignorant fucks are... ignorant. You could tell them that we killed all but one Jap, and that guy went on to save millions in an act of complete selfless heroism. But when that guy dies a painful death, they'll say "karma, remember Pearl Harbor." Ignorant fucks.
Who is they? Also, back up the statement with verifiable facts.
It did happen in 1945 look it up. I hate when people try erase History because it makes them look bad.
That aside everyone needs to stop holding shit against people for what happened in the past. I bet over half of you weren't even around for it to begin with. Everyone needs to stop whining and moaning about it all. We record History so that it won't be repeated or forgotten. Not so you can throw it back at one another when you feel the need to pick a useless fight. Half the stuff mentioned on here isn't even relevant to the original topic.
Every country has something in there closet and you can't try to cover it up simply because it will blemish your perfect appearance. Almost all of them have attempted to rectify their wrong doings and deserve a pardons for their actions. It's true what they might have done was wrong but I'm almost certain the offended party has also done something just as offensive and equally unforgivable that cannot be undone.
I can't believe I read most of these comments I feel like I lost/gained brain cells assuming the facts are straight.
I would suggest that some of you actually think bad to those History classes you were supposed to be paying attention to and take a good look at the news every once in awhile.
I will probably keep watching family guy, but I think it's time to switch from buying to downloading.
“If you wanna feel better about this earthquake in Japan, google ‘Pearl Harbor death toll.’”
If you wanna feel a lot better, forget those revenge and bitter feeling, and forgive them.
If you're still keeping that, than you're no better from them.
Japan don't hold A-bombs, plentiful other bombs targeting civilians and over a decade of occupation, yet so many Americans are caught up on one strike on a military target. wtf
It's one of few "recent" events where anyone actually went through the trouble of visiting them. Everything else is them sending troops elsewhere.
Still, it's quite amazing how they don't seem to realise that pretty much anything goes in times of war and soldiers are signing up for a job where you might actually participate in it. (Most modern wars tends to avoid involving civillians whenever possible though - like not throwing nukes around).
It's ignorant too. Japan had intended it as the first strike immediately after declaration of war, but they fucked it up and the declaration didn't make it in time.
Nonetheless, they shot down at least one Japanese midget sub the DAY BEFORE at Pearl Harbor... yet supposedly didn't notice? There were others sneaking around that they'd seen too, but it's as if they were ordered to pay it no mind and act surprised...
ignorance...
True. Real I just hate people who bring up that happened many years ago that they had on part in whatsoever and still try to use it as leverage today.
Assholes like sulkin need to grow the Fuck up.
It seems that nobody knows about the Hiroshima bombing, as well as Japan's major contribution for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts :/
google it...
he completely forgot about hiroshima and nagasaki bombing death toll...
And during Pearl harbor, both Japan and America went voluntarily to war.
Japan didn't ask for this.
That's proof that japanese are pussies just like how they don't voice their opposition against iSHIThara and his ban. And earthquake and tsunami? Americans would respond by going to war against mother nature!!!
That was different than Pearl Harbor.
Pearl Harbor was directed at strictly military targets.
The two bombings were indiscriminate killings.
Wiping a city off the map is a "strictly military target..." right. That's why it killed thousands of civilians. It was a crass show of force to disturb the Russians by smiting a broken country of peasants who, surprise, didn't feel like renouncing their god as a term of surrender.
I could be considered as a military target in the context of the "moral bombing" campaign.
Targeting residential areas instead of military targets to decrease enemy moral.
It's considered a war crime these days but was the main effort when bombing germany. It is also the reason why germany recovered so fast after the war (financial support only came in the form of loans), 90% of factories were still intact, only residential areas and hight priority military facilities were wiped out.
The west wouldn't have as many problems if the current efforts in Afghanistan ect. were based upon a WW2 concept of morality, and not ineffective vietnamesque "surgical" warfare.
(which includes warning the enemy of an incoming military strike, and not being allowed to shoot scouts unless they wear uniforms and shoot at you first...)
Actually, more people would have died on both side if the Americans chose to invade Japan.
The lack of history knowledge on Sankaku complex is... well, it's not even worth finishing a sentence about. Have fun being jap-loving, nanking denying, bomb apologists though!
This anon shows a severe incapability to understand warfare by comparing WWII to the Vietnam and Afganistan campaigns.
I suggest googling "asymmetrical warfare" for a start.
When you look at the total death toll of WW2 Pearl Harbor can be considered peanuts, and the nukes, "effective" but nothing special when comparing it to the conventional bombing of Tokyo.
Axis deaths
Military ~8m
Civil ~4m
Allied
Military ~16m
Civil ~45m
It was an all out war, shit happens, people die.
Anon wasn't comparing Vietnam and Afganistan campaigns to WW2 in respect of warfare, but in respect of what is deemed as acceptable collateral damage in order to defeat the enemy.
Both campaigns are/were hindered by restrictive rules of engagement, that were/are known to the enemy and used against the campaigning forces.
If you bomb a country that has not formally declared war or actively moving against your country, then technically you're still killing innocent targets. Saying it was fair to kill those people just because they are soldiers is like saying it's okay to run around shooting retired cops or academy trainees.
No, Japan was already finished and ready to surrender. They just wanted to keep their emperor, along with a few other easy-to-fulfill wishes to save face. America *WANTED* to use the bombs, to show Russia what it had. Learn some actual history, instead of the slanted bullshit your generic American textbook gave you.
Actually the Japanese weren't ready to surrender. If you read actual Japanese transcripts in the original Japanese they thought they could still go on, especially since they believed that no one country could possess more than one weapon of that magnitude. You also have to understand that in war, you can't take chances waiting while more people die. This isn't like the days where someone can just email the US president. Without the message of surrender or even a message of the possibility, the US was ready to send in ground forces that would have killed many more Japanese people. I'm not trying I'm not UK or US, but this is what we've learned in my country from a non-biased standpoint.
history is written by the victor. enough said.
Well said!
It's not like in one case one country was the aggressor and in the other it was retaliation. Nope. Totally equitable circumstances.
Yeah, because all those civilians that were nuked were totally the ones who bombed Pearl Harbor. Fuckwit.
“If you wanna feel better about this Pearl Harbor attack in America, google ‘Hiroshima and Nagasaki Death Toll.’”
Unfortunately, certain Americans won't be affected, in fact would actually feel proud with that since they've been too obsessed to the world of military and their ego since the time they took the land from the Red Indians. Honestly and obviously, I rather see an ex WW2 Japanese soldier who expressed how guilty he felt for all the massacre he did in the past than a
heroicAmerican soldier who just say "Thousands of civilians dead in Nagasaki and Hiroshima? Duh, it's war! What else can you expect?"Bitching about something isnt about being better, just the other party being worse.
He shouldn't even be bitter! It's not like he was alive to personally experience it. Nevermind the fact that Japan and the USA are allies and have been for decades...
