Hana Yori Dango? That series sure is popular here in the Philippines, but I am happier that NANA made it to the list.
No Nodame?
Wait.. What!?
Exactly what I had in mind!
Death Note movies f*cking owned, I downloaded them, only watched em' a couple of times but I really enjoy them.
I'm actually on the opposite end of the spectrum. I watched the entire anime and read the entire manga series before watching these movies (I own the whole manga series and the first movie). I have to admit that it disappointed me more than anything I've ever watched. They didn't keep it at all accurate with the series (the anime kept SUPER close to the manga) and the acting was generally poor in the movies.
Don't get me wrong. Death Note is my second most favorite series, right behind Haruhi Suzumiya, but those movies were downright TERRIBLE.
I have to go with the oppposite line. Haven't watched the anime, but I read the manga after I saw the film adaptations and find them superior. The movies were a lot sharper, especially the second one, and cut out a lot of the needless waffling and side routes, especially the second half of the manga.
*that is to say, find the films superior to the manga - Since edit button didn't seem to want to work.
Not familiar with many but I'm not much of a live action fan just My Boss My Hero and Death Note
Anyways my question is that can you guys give me the time-frame like from 2008 to 2011 or going back further than that
Hey, does anyone know if the actor who played Yagami Light is in any future movies? I love him as an actor.
i think he in gambler movie adaptation from manga, cant remember the title
He's also the main character dude in Battle Royale I.
I'm impressed on how different his characters were in both movies.
@anon 14:36: Kaiji
He played as the main character in a little movie made a while back. I don't know if you've heard of it, but it's name is Battle Royale?
/stupidness
Regardless, he was excellent in that movie, and I'm seriously disappointed that he ruined his great acting in Battle Royale with the craptastic Death Note adaptions.
No DB Evolution? ;0
well DB Evolution suck big time
im gonna eat some chip and write some name in "notebook" if DBE up there in the list
The ranking – based on Japanese preferences and so excluding Hollywood rapes
hmm... no higurashi??
i think the live action is good enough...
I ;iked the live action adaptations GTO and Yankee-kun and Megane-chan too. Not so good as the original source but its still enjoyable.
They were tv series, not movies.
Hana Kimi never had a movie though. It's still on the list.
Nodame should totally be on there
The Hana Yori Dango Japan Live Action series was unbeatable but the movie was about only 1/2 as good from it seemed a rush situation to finish the movie (here in the USA).
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e: Ikemen Paradise I would have put at number 1 because it was so close to the crazyness. I wouldn't even let DeathNote appear on the list to be voted on.....
No BECK? I am disappoint.
The movie is much worse than anime and manga.
Surprised HanaKimi is on there since it was barely like the comic at all (even though it was hilarious and good anyway).
Where's Nodame?! :(
Gantz movie was pure bullshit....
More like "Can'tz" amirite?
fail, just fail
Agreeing with all the "No Nodame?!" comments.
Liar Game was a great adaptation, but probably not popular enough to make this list. I really want to see Ooku!
Come on City Hunter with Jackie Chan was totally unrelated but so funny
DOMYOUJI!!!
At least NANA made it into the top ten, even if Nodame Cantabile did not. Now I'm waiting to see Kimi ni Todoke and Marimite live versions.
No Scott Pilgrim?
Do want me to slap you?
NANA got good music I suppose, however the acting is absolutely horrible by any standards.
Its a good MV and concerts but a poor adaption movie.
The acting in jdrama's are usually pretty bad across the board. I think that's why alot of japanese also prefer to watch kdramas instead.
Nodame Cantabile was solid though. I liked the GTO drama from way back as well.
GTO drama was awesome and better than anime (based on first four eps of anime, in any case). There was an OVA and a movie released and one of them was terrible, but I can't remember which one.
I'm surprised NANA is only 10th. I can't say the movie was spectacular, but I would have thought its popularity would raise it higher.
Honey & Clover is one movie I would have liked to see in the top 10.
Agreed with the Anonymous @ 16:22
Though I really have to agree with the #1 on the list. Hana Yori Dango is a really good J-drama.
I just loved Death Note 8D
probably one of my favorites
i also adored nodame, the main actress did such a wonderful job of portraying her character.
no " Devilman " ?!? or " Battle Royal " ?!
Battle Royale was based on a novel.
And I didn't know Nodame was made into a movie - I've only seen the jdrama series, which was alright
Out of this list I've only seen 20th Century Boys, which was quite bad - no desire to see the rest of them.
ooh! i thought " battle royale " comes first in manga before into novel?!
my bad! >_<
i hope " Fuuma no Kojiro " has a movie too.. since it has a jdrama series. Ryouta Murai is very funny in the series..
Wasn't Devilman (along with Casshern iirc) listed as one of the worst movie? I haven't seen it yet so I can't judge if that's true or not.
No Detroit Metal City? D;
I agree. That movie is a hybrid of WTF and LOL that it's so awesome~
Props for Kindaichi managing to get up to top 2nd of the bunch.
I was watching Hana Yori Dango since 2-3 days, and this is epic!
Also Death Note was not too bad.
Whoo yeah! Hana Yori Dango FTW!
