madoka is one of the best animes released to date. its better then haruhi, evangelion, and sailor moon. it dose somthing big. redefines a anime type. taking magical girl anime to a whole new level.

hey, South Park's still well and good (besides which, the American list's dominated by movies, not TV shows). Honestly, with the way Hollywood gets advertised in the Japanese "mainstream", I'm kinda surprised that Japan's list didn't fall victim to imports too (not to say that I'm not thankful for it ^^).

All in all, it only reflects the trend of countries amazon operates in, mainly the industrial 7.
Madoka is like the new, Mahou Shoujo version of K-ON! It was not for QB and SHAFT, we would not know Madoka.

This chart comparison (and any discussion about it) is pointless. All of us here know Japan's culture is hermetic, and any foreign movie would have a hard time making it to this top ten. Now take into account that for most of the world, USA is a marketing monster and has a strong position for influencing some concepts, and to mention that anime is kind of gridlocked to youg and technology-oriented audiences, there you have a conclusive result.
I lean more towards western movies, but just like in Hollywood, every industry has its jumps and trips. I have yet to see senior citizens in the USA enjoying anime like young people do.
And the Madoka dominated Japanese chart is just a trend. I barely watch anime, but I'm following Madoka because it really deserve all the attention. We all know that. But it doesn't speak good things about taste diversity. Just leave it like a trend.
Oh, and by the way, I declare myself guilty of buying all of K-ON! S1 BDs.
