Atlus: “No Catherine For Foreigners!”

Hardcore puzzle game Catherine may be selling like hot cakes in Japan, but the marketing geniuses at Atlus have still declared the title to be a “Japan-only game,” saying they have “no plans” for a US release.
Atlus USA is fairly emphatic about there being no chance for an international release:
“Catherine is a Japan-only game and there are no plans for a NA release at this time. Sorry about that!”
Just why Atlus bothered developing an Xbox 360 version at all, if not for a US release, is now something of a mystery – in Japan, the PS3 version outsold the 360 version almost 10 to 1, and most buyers would probably have bought it on the PS3 if no port was forthcoming.
Disappointed international fans may be correct in placing this alongside the kind of marketing genius which led to Atlus losing so much money its owners dissolved it…

Sony and Fromsoftware were the developers, and Sony published in Japan; Atlus was the one who published in the US.

This doesn't surprise me at all. After Atlus stop supporting the Super Robot Wars OG franchise in the US, I've learn not to trust them when it comes to import games anymore.
I wasn't aware they stopped supporting it... why the hell would they do that? What the flying fuck is going on here. Why is my industry so full of retards suddenly? It's not like they won't make the licensing and localization money back for christ's sake. And yes, they will, no question. People don't want the game, they just want Catherine, so someone in Japan, would properly just make a cut together 720/1080 version of all the cinematic and release it for download, so all of us can fab or drool on Catherine

Catherine is still pretty much built from a niche company, the odds are high that it'll just fly under the radar whilst a more robust title, like Duke Nukem Forever, is bound to get far more attention due to it's infamy and it's far more direct content.

It's just like the CNN rape game thing: it's already long forgotten in the US and wasn't viewed as anything remotely important by anyone, but loser otaku think it was a bigger deal than it was and continue to rage long after anyone in the US stopped giving a shit.
And yet, it was complaints from Japan's own faux UNICEF group and their own politicians who instituted the ban on explicit manga. No US politician put pressure on them, and only few US groups (all recognized as nutcases by vast majority of the population) even bothered to comment.

Yeah I never agreed with their definition of RPG's to begin with, is what I meant in my prior post. But hey, to each his own, I myself have played part of ME2 from the demo available on the PS3 and I must say, it's quite fun, and I see where they added in the RPG "elements" into the game.
But FPS + RPG still feels kinda weird to me, a bit off so to speak... I dunno O_o

Is it region locked or not? I am not an owner of ps3, but according to wikipedia, there is not much region locking for ps3, and ps3 was advertised as region free. If it is not locked, then people should just buy Japanese version and play original. Yes, we gaijin players will have to lear some Japanese, so what? If we want to be hardcore players and otakus, we should do so anyway.
Most PS3 games aren't region locked. I think 360 games are tho, can't quite remember atm.
Xbox Three Shitty (I'm an Xbox owner mind you people) is Region fucked, PS3 is Not so go and buy your japanese version PS3 owners and be merry... Xbox owners you just got fucked over big time.
As for me I could get it since I own a PS3 but I can't read a lick of japanese so I'm fucked.
PS3 supports region protection, but to the best of my knowledge nothing uses it. xbox supports it too and nearly anything from a Japanese developer is region protected.
