    Perhaps because, despite the minimal plot (and there is some) the show is all about relationships and loyalty and being true to oneself and doing what's right and taking care of one's friends -- which is all stuff that teenage girls LOVE. If it wasn't for all the fan service, this show would be an absolute hit among teenage girls.

    I don't care if being a pedo or lolicon is wrong.

    Roughly?

    Alternate Earth, before WW2 could break out, there was an Alien invasion and the various nations banded together to fight off the aliens.

    It's a world where magic is real, and they discover that these witches* are the best shot that humanity has against fighting the aliens**.

    (*: No sign thus far if there are male users of magic or not.)

    (**: Called Neuroi btw)

    What with the Aliens having shielding/regenerative abilities which makes most regular weapons useless against them.

    So you get a combo of magic and technology to defeat the Aliens, and the most useful tool they have is the Striker unit, which is a piece of techno-magic, essentially an engine which runs on magical powers.

    Making it easier for Witches to fly at high speeds. It was created by the father of the Main Character and he's been MIA and presumed dead for quite some time, after the base, where his lab was located, was attacked by the Aliens.

    But for some reason, letters of his to his daughter keep popping up out of nowhere. Including design specs far in advance of anything that he'd been working on prior to his disappearance.

    Season 1 focused on the liberation of Gallia (read France), which had been conquered by the Aliens. Season 2 focuses more on the Mediterranean (and their stand in for Italy, called Romagna) and the appearance of more Neuroi (the ones who had conquered Gallia were willing to open diplomatic channels with the humans to settle things peacefully. This second wave doesn't share that sentiment and goes out of their way to kill their former brethren).

    Major subplot is about what happened to the Main Character's father. Although it's still not resolved at the end of the second season.

    No we're in era were a show is only judged by having a "plot" or not and not wether it is entertaining to the viewer
    This type of anime wasn't made for plot, and it's stupid to expect such things from it. It's like expecting ahamburger to be a gastronomical meal...

    Exactly right. The fact is that the 'harm' from pedosexuality (a better term that pedophilia) comes from the reaction of society to the relationships in question and children being 'taught' (more like forced into believing) that sex between adults and children is wrong, as well as children being forced into brainwashing masquerading as 'therapy' that tries to teach them that all sexual encounters are wrong.

    Yes, I am being serious in that latter thing. My one relative (distant) was forced into that therapy, and she came out of it worse off than when she went in according to her parents.

    Thankfully, the psychologist that treated her is now serving her OWN lengthy prison term for mental abuse of a child.

    Come on, stop deluding yourself, pedophilia is a bad thing and you know it!
    Not anyone sane in it's mind could expect sex with children to be a good thing, they're not even formed biologically for it. And I'm not talking about the trauma of such experiences, just ask a former victim, I doubt he/she would keep a nice memory of it.
    Pedophilia is just the result of gene mutation: with 7 billion humans on earth, you can expect some to be a little "off-model"

    PS: Well I don't know if you live in USA, but I find the age of consent there to be totally absurd, I think we can only refer to it as pedophilia, when it is with prepubescent children and not 14-13 year old teens.
