Given the somewhat mixed evaluations the game has received, the strength of the Persona brand (notwithstanding the fact that the game is only “spiritually” part of the franchise) and the sexiness of Catherine probably have much to do with the game’s success.
That future full-scale Persona RPGs on the PS3 probably depend on it having at least modest success likely also played a role in its favourable reception…

Final was probably speaking accidentally of the dream world that all of us who remember the godliness of the late 90s PC gaming market represented, and had a Freudian slip. It happens. I too wane into lapses of remembrance of the awesomeness that was the birth of some of the greatest pieces of art ever created and stare aimlessly into space with longing :D
Still waiting for the modern era to catch up. Graphically it's caught up to the age of the 3d rendered sprites with the PS3 and XBOX360. Now we just need to remember how to write a good story. Wherefore art thou, Black Isle writers!
The PC release was the first one out as I recall... unfortunately in true PC style is was horrendously buggy and you could barely get from one area to another without it crashing.

And I mean, I like Western RPGs, but this is like the worst one to come out in the past 15 years. So no Mass Effect, Fallout 3 or Dragon Age but they'll play the shitty rip off of all of those?

TW2 totally doesn't deserve to be on any top list. The animation and voice action takes a piss on any serious story, I can't hit shit with spells, the story is boring and everything is huge (as in the map is zoomed so close that you have to scroll for ages to see anything).
Some parts of the game (PC) looked rather nice though, the young pine trees looked very realistic.
I believe Mass Effect 2 was released in Asia within the past 2 months.
On another note, I was happy to see Gyakuten Kenji 2 :D

They're almost assuredly going to release it in English as they put it on the 360 which you don't really do in Japan unless you're also going a release in the US and Europe eventually. (Unless it's an obscure arcade port)
