The True Ending gave me an ounce of wish that the series would continue to second season following the Light Novel story clearly. Going through Ruri's Senpai path, then to Ayase goes Super Yandere...
But I remembered how second season usually ends up being horrible. Not that the first season was that great...!

but you have to remember that unlike most series that produce a season 2 because its selling like hotcakes, oreimo already has an existing story and enough content that can well extend into a season two.

agreed. They need a few more novels for a second season as the anime went through a good amount of content. It would also depend on how much the next 3 ova's will cover. It seems like it'll cover up to volume 6 since that's the only reasonable place they can stop it unless they go further which i doubt they can. Since there's only 7 volumes(8 will come out soon), it leaves only vol 6,7,8 for an anime which isn't enough.

Kuroneko's and Saori's route both seemed substantial enough to be partially canon. I know they would never follow their routes to the end in a second season, but there were plenty of scenes that I would love to see animated.

OreImo was prolly my favorite show of 2010, so glad to see the continuation airing quicker (faster than Wikipedia's projected date of June, and faster than the similar Bakemonogatari ONAs as far as I remember). I'm also glad to see that Ayase shot there, OreImo knows how to handle panty shots, few and far between but good quality.
It looks like this will follow the novels more closely, although considering that the title imouto of the series is absent for a good while in the novel, I'd hope a second season would start off when she came back, and hopefully after at least one or two more novels came out and maybe wrapped the whole series up. Kuroneko's all right but the focus this coming chapter of the novel has and the fandom has on her really mystify me.

Kuroneko is better than Kirino in every way. Other than maybe Manami, Kirino is at the bottom of the list IMO.
I think people get too caught up in their sister complex to realize that Kirino is just a spoiled brat. I don't know how much change for the better she goes through in the novels, but I can't imagine it's much.

Kuroneko does have some good lines, but she's not nearly as cute as Ayase or Kirino and has a chubby looking face with a blob of a body. Cute, for sure, and I'm sure that does it for the lolicons in the audience, but not me. Besides that, I get the feeling she'd be a Twilight fan, which is an instant turn off for me.
I actually really hate Siscon stuff and was only drawn to this show by the overall quality overriding that natural hatred. KissxSis and Ochinko are two good examples of shows I can't bear to watch because of the siscon thing. However, in this one it's easy to just look at it as two siblings ending a cold war and learning how to deal with each other.
Ignoring the sister thing, I like a good tsundere and Kirino is the cutest girl I've seen in an anime in years, but the anime version of her is, like she said in ep 9, 100% tsun and no dere. The novel and manga versions are much more adorable and that probably colors my perception of her.
It's also process of elimination. Here you have cute tsundere Kirino, goth tsundere Kuroneko (who despite what I said earlier is still my second favorite), yandere Ayase (who's basically a palette swapped version of Kirino looks wise but but I don't like and am puzzled by the yandere thing), Saori who's not that bad but kinda fades into the background, and dull as dirt Manami. The dere moments with Kirino feel almost earned after all the tsun hardship, and that one scene at the end of episode 11 was the biggest "d'awwwww" moment I had since Love Hina.
Kirino is not so bad. I think she just felt neglected by her brother as she started to grow. Or maybe she already had feelings for him (hence, her hobby), and tried to deal with them by being mean to him, because she thought they were unacceptable and are so in the eyes of society. But [SPOILER] after she felt like Ruri was taking him away, she decided to be more assertive and do what he did volume 7.
