Fancy Frontier 17 “Taiwan’s Comiket”

Taiwan’s substantial otaku population has been enthusiastically attending Fancy Frontier 17, Taiwan’s answer to Comiket, and despite the rain attendance seems to have been healthy, with a variety of seiyuu, cosplayers and companions in attendance alongside the creepy hordes.

The event itself is rather more official in character than Comiket, but otherwise the comparison stands – some pictures of the event:

If China and N.Korea were democracies Asia would be like Europe, no much differences, but each one with their own distinct cultures. Like France, Spain, Germany etc. An Asian Union would be as great as the Europe Union is.

Taiwan is the true China. People often forget that the Taiwanese government is the successor to the Government that ran China before the communists took over. Someone just needs to give them an army to invade the mainland and restore the rightful rulers to power.

There are compelling arguments to suggest that Taiwan is actually the true retainer of Chinese culture and that the communist mainland is actually just pretending to have culture.

It's pretty much true, what little is left of Chinese culture is just skin deep and they wave it around in the name of their national pride but the reality is they are losers of the cultural revolution.

The true Chinese culture can be found in Singapore and Taiwan. This Japan stuff you see is just one aspect of an open society that Taiwan has. They are very chinese in other areas if you actually lived there. Trust me, I know, I lived there.

Taiwan having elements of Japanese culture in it is not much different from how Canada has american and french influence in it.

How about a hamburger then? (German again)
    A Pizza? (Italian)
    Bagels? (Jewish)

    Take in a movie? (French)

And the list just goes on an on.

Here is another Taiwanese weeaboo insisting the culture of another country is part of theirs.
Seriously, haw bad of an identity crisis do you people carry?

But hey, it's not your fault! Maybe when your daddy is China, you really have no other choice.
To the point you were willingly consenting to rape^^
How did that Japanese dick feel in your ass btw? Apparently the sweet cum was too good to forget.
Your island was just another stepping stone towards conquering Asia. The fact that your people willingly took in your new daddy Japan with the illusion you were not looked down on says a lot about the (lack of) so-called "Taiwanese culture."

I'm no fan of China, but I have more respect towards a nation that is capable of thinking on its own and not leaning on other nation's cultures.
Your lapdog country is a joke next to China. Oh wait, Taiwan is not a country, my bad.

Seriously, though, the thing I love about Taiwan is how it seems to have taken the best aspects of Japanese culture and the best aspects of traditional Chinese culture (which doesn't exist in modern China), and even a little bit of "Western" culture, and blended them into something new and better. It's like hybrid vigor or something.

Taiwan has their own unique culture and history, and deserves to be recognized as its own nation. I do hope the Taiwanese people see that their future lies with their fellow democracies in Asia, and not with supposed blood ties to China. The autocrats in china will block access to any site without a reason or permission by court, even site like dropbox was blocked. And the government can bulldoze anyone's home because officials-related real-estate company wants the land. If you don't obey they will hire gangsters to itimidate or harass you to force you out with pathetic compensation. These are real stories happening in china every each day.

Don't forget Taiwan is just a part of R.O.C. and is never independent. So.. no, your Taiwanese is just the same as DPP claim to be. And, of course you don't call yourself "Mainland Chinese(中國人)", because we use "Ethnic Chinese(華人)" all the fucking time.

i hate it when taiwanese people don't get this. your ethnicity and your nationality are DIFFERENT THINGS! most people in taiwan are of chinese descent (i don't like the word Han because it's an ill-defined term) but i would hope they identify themselves as taiwanese (or from the ROC if you must) because Chinese means the PRC.

Look, there are people from all over the world in some countries such as australia or the usa. people hold on to their heritage and culture and identify as of irish descent or italian ancestry for example, but they also identify with the nationality of the country they were born in.

I like integrating all aspects of different cultures (including japanese), but fuck completely BECOMING them. That's retarded and just makes other people think we are sucking japan's cock/have no culture of our own.

The Taiwanese don't want to become like China as it is TODAY. We want to retain the culture that China had before it was fucked over and became the shithole it is today. We have more in common with ancient China than we do Japan, though Japan did influence us significantly.

We had three masters, Imperial China, Imperial Japan, Republic of China. There was a try at independence around early Republic of China but that didn't go through. Japan in the interim did rule lightly on Taiwan bringing advancement for the island. And despite the draconian measures of RoC, the freedom we had was better than PROC.

We do recognize the origin but other than that we don't want to be associated with the Proc in anyway.

I've never seen someone so willingly take in a master's cock all the while rejecting any sort of connection to father China.

No amount of delusional thought on your part will change the fact that your pathetic island was just another stepping stone towards conquering Asia. The so-called "Taiwanese people" were just another set of foreign barbarians that needed to be tamed in the interest of the Japanese imperial army.

Apparently, what little original culture you people have includes willingly taking it in the ass by your new masters; so giving yourselves the illusion that the by-product of infrastructural and economic development was somehow done in YOUR interest must be pretty damn easy.

The lapdog nature of your island is so pathetic it gives me shivers thinking about it. But hey, maybe someday new technology will allow you to pump out that Chinese blood flowing through your veins and replace it ^^

Imperial China didn't give a damn about the island. Taiwan was ceded to Japan at the turn of the 20th Century. The Japanese built most of the infrastructure on the island and almost gave all Taiwanese Home Island citizenship. The ROC, Sun Yat-sen, and Chiang Kai-shek didn't do shit for Taiwan until they got their ass beat by the Communists and fled to Taiwan. What do you expect?

the U.N. rejects Taiwan because they want to join as "China" (read R.O.C) while the PRC won't have that. During the shift in recognition Taiwan was offered the chance to remain on the U.N. but change its name, but the fuktard KMT won't have that either. Most nations recognise PRC as China and as there can only be on China, Taiwan loses out by trying to be China too.
