Popular cephalopod overlord anime Ika Musume has been announced as being due a second season.
Details have not been released, but the timing suggests the producers cannily waited to see how the first disc releases sold (they did quite well) rather than trust in the show’s online popularity.

Second season oh yeah de-geso.
It was inevitable...I knew from the first moment I glimpsed upon this awesome show with an even more awesome main heroine, I knew a second season is imminent~

I had trouble getting into this show--the overt-moeness of Ika Musume and the compulsion this and other shows have to add some gimmicky sentence ending particle were distracting. However, I'm always glad to see a good comedy show succeed, and maybe I'll give it another shot.

That series made more sense as a Comedy then any other Japanese series I watch in the long run. It sure deserves another season.
