Gantz Movie: “Rubbish Chick Flick with No Boobs or Guro”

ikemen-gantz

Gantz fans are aghast at the recently screened Gantz live action movie, which is said to have dumped all the ero and guro elements which underpinned the original in favour of handsome male leads in shiny suits for the ladies.

Critics pitch in with a suitably scathing review:

Gantz – 45%

The author of Gantz may be a big fan of Hollywood, but as usual for a Japanese film, the live action version is awful. There is still some hope for it however.

The movie version differs from the original in both story and setting.

Firstly, all the ero and guro, the twin pillars of the original work, have been ruined. This is atrocious.

This is not teatime TV, that sort of thing might have to be removed from a TV drama but not from something everyone is fully expecting (and paying to see). What’s up with this lukewarm pap?

However desperate you are to attract a female audience, arranging the whole film to appeal to women is misguided. It’s like they are fitting the film to the audience because they don’t have the guts to try to make the audience fit the film.

For example, take the actress portraying the heroine Kei, Natsuna.[Details (sexy pictures) here and here]

She is said to have prepared for the famous scene where she is transported into the Gantz room by not wearing any underwear for days before the filming.

The scene was filmed and she did it nude, but the final scene didn’t show a single nipple or any pubic hair.

This kind of unnatural alteration, as if were being shown on prime-time TV, will only aggravate Gantz fans the world over.

Of course, you must understand I’m saying this on behalf of fans and not just because I want to see her lovely rack or anything like that.

Just when it seemed Hollywood could not be outdone, Japan’s own film industry has finally beaten them at their own game.
