Clash Massacres “Slutty” Miku

UK music and fashion rag Clash has featured holographic princess Hatsune Miku on its cover, but it is hard to see many fans being pleased with its choice of cover image, nor its unflattering description of her.

Apparently the editors felt its (admittedly meagre) subscribership was unable to stomach anything less than the full guro cosplay ensemble seen above.
As if this were not bad enough, Clash goes on to call her “slutty”:
She’s super cute: baby doll smile, impossibly tiny waist, a Rapunzelian pair of aquamarine pig tails, and a wardrobe just slutty enough for it to still be okay.
Sixteen-years-old, 5’2’’, 93lbs. Her voice has been featured on gold records, she’s performed live to crowds of over 25,000 ecstatic fans, she even has her own video game, Project Diva, by Sega.
By all means Miku is one of the biggest pop icons in the world. Strangely though, she doesn’t really exist.

This comes as no surprise.
Otaku culture is seen as so weird and marginal in the UK that even an image as ugly as that is more acceptable than the real Miku.

but in their defence - miku is whatever you want her to be, so at least we know what their taste is
Last I checked, all of Hatsune Miku save for her voice belongs to Crypton. You can make the vocaloid engine sing whatever you want, but if you want to use her face and name, you need their permission.
Clearly they are "misinforming" the people of what Miku really looks like. They should have totally gone for official press images or art that actually portrayed Miku, not some horrid abomination that will surely give me nightmares tonight.
They need better cosplayers...

With a bit of luck they won't be able to have "slutty" songs if they name Miku as the singer. Crypton Media are very strict about what Vocaloids are commercially allowed to say or sing. Hopefully her innocence will be preserved.
