Doubts over the actual graphical capabilities of the NGP appear to be being dispelled somewhat with the release of some much more impressive official footage of the device in action.
The video:
Assuming the graphics shown are in any way representative of the final product, this seems to leave battery life as the final sticking point, although at least this is a shared issue with the 3DS.

Cool but the question remains: is it pure marketing and made up footage or is this the real deal?
Anyway, quite impressive...
We can bet on 3 things here.
Hotshots golf, Uncharted, and The Little Deviants (The rolling orange balls in the landscape) are likely to be ingame.
Sony NGP conference videos are here in this forum thread [http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=123636&page=1].
I believe Kotaku had an article about having hands on with the NGP and Uncharted. If I'm right then those are some pretty solid stuff.
Impressive or not, I'm worried how long is the screen/touch-area thingy going to last after being kept in a pocket right next to my sweaty thigh and house keys...
They should've learned from the PSP's mistake and do something about the screen being exposed to every source of scratches and pressure...
WILL IT BLEND?
YES [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZrZZGqL55w]
I know I'm still skeptic somehow. Gonna wait for the official release to see some conclusive proof.
I'm surprised so many of you can fit anything in those pockets pressed up against all that thick chubby fat in the first place, you disgusting pigs.
Sancom:
- NGP release: IT SUCKS ONLY A FEW HOURS OF BATTERY.
- BUT THE SCREEN RESOLUTION IS BIGGER THAN 3DS ^o^!!1
- OH NOES THE GRAPHICS WILL NOT BE FULLY THE SAME AS PS3
- IT'S DONE FOR BECAUSE OF 3GP SUBSCRIPTION
- WOW IT'S SO IMPRESSIVE, I WANT TO CUM ON IT.
Srsly, make up your damn mind, whether you like it or not. If you're just summing up the traits of the machine, then don't add your opinions to it.
"The topping contains potassium benzoate... That's bad."
It's impossible to decide what to think of a product when there's still so much unknown about it.
Besides, it's also impossible to comment on something without adding opinions to it.
The entire point of comments is to let everyone express their opinions. Live with it.
You sir will never be a reporter or an academic. Not possible to comment on something without adding an opinion? Of course its possible. It's also more direct and to the point than adding a negetive or positive note in the end (or worst, in the subject itself).
I will never trust "promotional material". They almost always doctor it.
almostalways ALWAYS ALWAYS fix'dAlways gone for hands-on reviews
A POS product can be the new golden standard if advertised properly. just look at Apple
Apple stuff is not crap. Its overpriced, but its not crap.
@alidan I develop programs for iOS and OSX, and everything you said about source code, etc, is bullcrap of finest sort.
Haters are gonna hate, while we whom have opinions based on professional experience hold a more nuanced view.
If Apple's products are a POS, but it set the standard, doesn't that mean everything else was also a POS?
Apple does have some weird, weird quirks like making them hard to modify without serious consequences, their horrible battery life issues and other Apple-esque quirks and the exorbitant prices of almost all their products, but POS they aren't. They're actually fairly advanced in terms of technology and features. But again, the pricing and the whole 'Apple family' of features are annoying. You don't get that restrictiveness out of PC infrastructure products in comparison.
As for NDS, Hot Shots Golf PORTABLE with such gorgeous graphics is enough to sell me, but I'm still scared for the battery. If by the next NDS SKU, the battery is the same but the price is dropped, I'll consider getting it then.
Aliaus is technically correct. The product Apple sells are pretty much generic cheap crap enclosed into shiny packaging. But that's not what Apple is selling; they sell the well thought out user interface, the convenient walled-garden (and sometimes questionable) environment and the artificial sense of value, in other words, they sell the "Apple experience".
Turns out, "regular" people are pretty keen on that.
Standard for overpricing cheap parts, sure
well at least they're successful now while ur stuck here ranting about the possibilities of how dominating u would be if u had cash.
If you have ever taken apart apple products you would see that they are shiny inside and out. There is some pretty good engineering going on internally.
Most people dont give a damn if their OS is open or closed. Apple capitalized on this.

apple is hated for many reasons. the reason i hate it is to put something on apple you have to devuldge your source code to them, unless you have some serious pull, you have to.
they are closed minded, as in we make it you use it, if not, than go fuck yourself. on a pc or anything else you have choice, on mac, you usually have far less.
now with the phones, they were headed there anyway, apply just kicked them in the ass. but if anyone tells you an on screen keyboard is good, please kill them for me.
and tablets? we had real laptops that could do real work with touch screens, now they are going away for these oversizes cellphones. i think the idea is fucking retarded. and i have an ipod touch, and we will be getting an ipad, because the people i live with love that shit.
the ipod touch was an accidental success. they had no idea that people wanted the iphone without a phone part, that it took the fuck off. their biggest success was an accident. and steve jobs, until the ipod touch took off, voiced his hatred of game openly, after it took off and games was a BIG reason for it, he changed slightly.
i think apple is a wholely incompetent company, who fell ass backwards into success with the ipod. up until than, they were a niche, and still are in computers. and microsoft is wrongly trying to chase after the 10% of the people who like macs by making oses that emulate the feel of a mac, and im starting to hate them too.
if i had the money i would dominate everything tech wise, because somehow i can see good ideas miles away while the big company of today cant do shit but copy each other.
you want to know my idea.
an ipod sized phone, with and analouge stick and button docking bay, that is no bigger than the psp1000, adds battery life, and is also a gameing system, every 18 months i would put a new one out, and it would be 100% backwards compatible.
imagine, a console like stability with games, and a pc like upgrade cycle for games. systems would be supported up to 3 cycles away, so system 1 would play system 3 games, but not system 4 games, this would force progression, but system 1 games would 100% support system 4.
Yes, the difference is that Apple stuff is a POS _and_ expensive.
The original PSP games trailer was very accurate as to how games turned out to look. So I trust this.
Because one trailer means all are accurate lol.
Lol sony is bringing the future again. It looks solid aside from the whole phone data package thing
Although I do admit my jaw did drop, I then remembered how much that McDonalds Commercial made me drool at how big a Quarter Pounder is supposed to be, only to receive a flat hamburger after my cash is handed over....
you sir are and genius
Yet, the touch-sensitive back and that shoulder tap are a nice ideas. Such innovations are almost, I dare say, nintendously ingenious and quite unexpectedly unsony.
That aside: Have you guys noticed the gameplay for Smart As? Looks like they turned Find-the-best-reception-for-your-mobile-to-get-that-damn-textmsg-sent into an actual game. I can already see stupid kids manoeuvring around roads, hallways, classrooms and other areas where one had better WATCH THE FUCK OUT WHERE ONE TREADS and get run over, fall into open manholes or bump into bullies' huddles! Ohh, lulz will be had ...
Looking good so far. The whole "touch pad on the back" thing is weirding me out a bit though...
i hope you can use them as L2 and R2 in some games. if it's possible we might see PS2 emulation on this handheld.
Exactly. Sony are masters of the mighty bullshot, and making tech demos that technically DO run on the hardware, but don't reflect what a real game would be like.
They also make the systems that I enjoy the most, so I look forward to spending years playing this thing... I just don't much care what's in the trailers because it probably won't relate very closely to how things look when they actually launch. (Could be worse... could even be better as the games take more optimizations before the launch window.)
Yes but they had UNCHARTED running on the thing and they did an ONSTAGE DEMO. What is there not to believe? Jesus people, stop with the irrational Sony hate.
Learn to read, fool. I said I love Sony. They're just not good at being honest or marketing smartly. I also said it could be BETTER than we see now, but you're just blinded by fanboy rage.
If the PSP2 looks this good I can't even imagine what PS4 will be like!
WIPEOUT HOLY SHIT!
Wipeout looks impressive!!
gravity daze looks interesting.
This, looks interesting
I hope this means realtime JRPG games - especially a tales of series game.
So... Motion-sensitive, touch-sensitive, higher graphics, and two analogue stick?
God damn it, I would be so sure to buy NGP if it wasn't for Pokemon...
Multitouch screen... hummm eroge... it's not that sufficient for you?
If this PSP2 (I don't like the NGP name) have the same ligth eroge lineup like the PSP, I think that there could be some goods games out there...
I am definitely going to try to obtain this at some point...
2 Analog Sticks, slightly bigger screen I think & those graphics are worth it alone, plus I did like the PSP's game line up, just could never afford a PSP so...
Touch screen seems too gimmicky. Inb4 a bunch of game developers try to incorporate the new features into their games only to screw it up.
Did a Banana man just punch a Roman soldier in the stomach? awesome.
as long as theyre offering something new and enjoyable, batt life wont be a problem. the real question is wats the price going to be
*face explodes*
I give them points for there use of music
My question is Pre Rendered or Actual Gameplay
It seems to be quite good but as all consoles and portables I pass I'd rather just remain loyal to pc and its "free" games as in the long run you save a lot of money though some games I'll be unable to play as they're exclusive for some or a single platform
Normally I'd post a heck of a comment but the only thing that actually exists in my head right now is...
SUGOI Portable Hardware!
o__o I wanna play Gravity Daze now... who'd play with me~? :3
Right along with yah yo!
I am! Looks like a fun game and something else, along with Little Deviants, compared to the most games shown in the trailer.
