NGP vs 3DS Resolution & Size Comparison

Comparisons between the screen resolutions and physical sizes of the NGP, 3DS and other portables reveal that the NGP is the largest handheld yet, but also that its resolution annihilates those of previous handheld consoles.
The NGP falls just short of total HD support, but certainly offers a far more versatile display than the 3DS. However, for purposes other than pure gaming it may find itself being compared not to the 3DS but to smartphones and tablets, rendering this comparison moot.
There is still no word on the price of the NGP, although Sony has said “it will not be like the PS3” and that “it will be reasonable.”

That is still small. If you think that's big, then you must of not seen early models of portal-able back in the 80's to early 90's.
Also, that size is still smaller compare to the PSONE w/ lcd screen.
Still doesn't kick as much ass as my Sega Nomad though..

as @diamonddust said, in the past all things were portable which could get in a pocket from a trouser. nothing else

Not that hard. Alot of cars have screens in them and all you need is something to convert DC to AC.

Digital downloads and flash cards. I believe it's backwards compatible with any of the PSP games on PSN, but it won't use UMDs.
I can put a PS2 in my car and play it while I'm at the red light, so this new NGP should be okay

Well mine is hidden, so it doesn't really matter.
Because they already have a heat problem in there, no need to add another hot part into it I guess :P
I am not too happy at all about the battery life... long ass trips boy I will need to bring both consoles and maybe a gameboy that the batteries lasted for WEEKS
thats sad when I think about it. all the way up until the ds we could play our systems for a very very long time with out changin out the batteries. went from weeks to like 8 hours to 3-5 hours so sad... next system should work on revolutionizing power distribution, power consumption, power inputs... take advantage of solar strips... if not that then just revolutionize our batteries.
other than that... I dont feel like I can bitch about anything else..... the chargers better be lengthy -_- if they are short then I might have somethin to bitch about
These systems are impressive. Sony seems to and prolly will have the most powerful systems for a while. if their 1st hand held was that beastly and the 2nd is frickin ridiculously good wtf type of quality can we expect from their 4th big console :3
The NGP may kick ass in terms of specs, but it comes down to the games available.
If the NGP has a games library similar to the psp (a couple of good games, with a lot of crap thrown in), then it'll sit in my draw gathering dust, just like my psp...
You just described the DS, might aswell leave portable gaming all together if that is what you don't like.

The DS is 90% shovelware, party games, and crap and 10% Mario/Metroid/Zelda/Nintendo games.
Size is a big issue when it comes to portable gaming device...
PSP is big enough, and now they are miking it much bigger =="

If it fits in a pocket in my 40x32 pants, then it's portable. If it last less then 5 hours of gaming per battery charge, then it fails. I don't think I'll buy the NGP nor the 3DS.
not to mention that you're going to become a gaming whore if you're going to continue playing it for over 4-5 hours straight. Get a life maybe?

As someone from east coast who visits family in reno, nv at least once a year, a longer battery life would be appreciated.5-6 hours filght(counting boarding,taxing, etc)with a 15-40 min layover (which all AC outlet are full most of the time) followed by another 1-2 hour flight. I go though a couple batteries.
Well there is always the solution I chose with my laptop when it came to long road trips. It's something you really should have anyway if your on a long trip in a car. A jumper box, can find them with built in air compressors and usually two wall style plugs, they usually have a cable to plug it into the cigarette lighter of a car which can serve as a source of continuous power. Best part about them, one strong enough to power a laptop computer cost about the same price as a new game, should be more than enough power for a handheld console.
Ever thought of the power consumption with the devices? They coming out wit freaking nice renders and shit, of course they're going to consume a lot of power. It's already good for them to keep the standard of 4-5 hours of gameplay, not to mention that you're going to become a gaming whore if you're going to continue playing it for over 4-5 hours straight. Get a life maybe?

Well high res doesn't necessary equate to large size.
That said the the thing is quite large, but most people carried the PSP1 in their bags anyway.
Maybe they can shrink it down in the future using higher pixel density screens.
While large for portable standards, it's still reasonable, I think. You could go to the other side of the spectrum. Remember that Game Boy Advance Micro? THAT was diminute...
