It’s not that unusual. There are a few well known western comic artist that draw great anime inspired comics.
I’d say the “in your face” top name on the list is possibly Adam Warren. I think his most significant anime inspired work was in the one-shot comic “Titans scissors, paper, stone”.

My favorite however is Joe Madureira. The work he has done on the epic Battle Chasers is commendable…..http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v502/dredjaw/Comics/BattleChasers1.jpg…..Both these artists take the anime guidelines by the balls, and pour they’re own personalities into the end result, making for a very unique art style that very easily identify their work, even at a glance.

Everything’s perfect except for The House of El emblem… that “S” seems to come from 1930’s Superman comics…
