A survey of Japanese console ownership reveals more Japanese own Dreamcasts than they do Xbox 360s, with less than 5% of gamers reporting owning one…
The online survey asked 1,073 Japanese to list the gaming devices they owned, and of the 60% who reported owning at least one, 62% owned a DS, 57% a PS2, 44% a Wii, 30% a PSP and 25% a PS3.
The numbers for which consoles respondents actually played as well as owned were slightly more reassuring for Microsoft – the Xbox 360 actually drew ahead of the original PlayStation with 3.3% playing it, versus 14.7% for the PS3, itself hardly an impressive number.
57% reported their gaming had “greatly” or “slightly” decreased in the last year – a distinctly disturbing trend for Japanese game developers stuck trying (and apparently failing) to meet their increasingly insular tastes in the face of ever mounting development costs for new consoles.
Oh so…PC does not count because they are widely shipped by Windows and everyone has one. Oh so…Tell that to Alienware.. Oh..Damn.That’s gotta hurt. “Others” sounds like something you say to a Kingdom hearts hater.

i only want 360 for Lost Odyssey, some JRPG’s like Infinite Undiscovery and Magna Carta, Guilty Gear 2, DOA Paradise and Rumble Roses along with Shump and Dating Sim, Visual Novel Games.
otherwise, yeah i can see why it’s not popular in japan.
Microsoft needs to bow down to Sony and get Miku to spearhead their x-box/kinect.

And what’s with all the Xbox hating and regretting having bought it? It’s just 200 bucks (which is like 5 games), so stop crying or get a job!
I have the 360S and the XboxOne and I’m happy with it. Kinect owns Move big time btw. I’ll probably still buy a PS3 in a few months.
The XboxOne was really cool when you had a modchip in it. That level of modding was not possible on any other console. My old xbox could do anything the newer Consoles nowadays can functionalitywise. It just hasn’t got the hardware performance of the current gen.
