Queen of moeblobs Mio Akiyama has apparently found herself appropriated by Chinese otaku as an image character for their nation’s newly copied stealth plane, the Chengdu J-20.

The similarity is said to be both because of certain mild aesthetic similarities between the two, and because of some tenuous connection between the Akiyama Mio name and the plane.

The fact that plenty of Chinese anime fans love Mio probably helps a great deal as well…

The J-20 proper, part of China’s ongoing military build up:

The plane is thought to be the result of Chinese spies copying American stealth planes, using parts clandestinely retrieved from a stealth plane shot down over Serbia.

It has already been the subject of some original moe anthropomorphisation, in the form of the splendid display of mecha-musume shown below (most of which are apparently not by Chinese artists for some strange reason):

Resemblances abound..Mio is Mio even when she's the other Mio - but could the Chinese please come up with something of their own.

Orange Gundam, Stealth Figher J20, and Strike-figher Mio - 3 hi-tech copies that might not ever get off the ground.

proves chinese weapons engineers are unable to create weapons that can truly be considered on par with other major nations without stealing and basically photocopying what other nations have. its almost as bad as when the soviets stole and built perfect clones of the US Flying Fortress bombers...
wonder what J20-tan will do if she finds out she is just a clone, though that wont happen with the chinese governments suffocating grip on information... i guess the normal reactions would be either break down mentally and kill yourself, or kill your creators... or both...
oh... and why is she (Mio) holding a QBZ? I know its the standard rifle of the PLA, but... when it costs double digit millions to build you, i would expect her to choose a better rifle at least... you know... spend a little extra for something that will keep you alive much better than that... at the very least, an AK74...

There's no copyright over words anywhere in the world.

Technology, military secrets, yes there is copyrights of it. It's just that it's impossible to persecute theft of military secrets. In the end theft is theft and the only creativity is in how you obtained the secret.

cultural copying is different than schematic copying for military secrets and commercial products. nobody owns the culture... if you want to use Kanji as an example, just look at English, it "steals" many things from pretty much every other language out there, though mostly Germanic in origin. another example of stealing writing is the arabic numeric system, you know all those lovely numbers that almost everyone uses like 1,2,3? yea, those come from ancient Arabia. then theres chinese, where they are too lazy to make up names for new things recently, so they just literally translate the english names for the items and ideas, and even make silly names for things, like a selection menu in a computer is known as a "food menu(a menu for a restaurant)".

seriously, all Ive been seeing out of Chinese weapons engineers is the copying of other nations weapons, their standard rifles were AK clones up until recently, now they use the crappy QBZ they designed which is now being phased out by ANOTHER AK clone since they found the QBZ rifles to be lacking, they use Russian T90 Tanks, they use Russian MIG fighter planes, now they steal and copy US stealth planes? not surprising given their history with weapons development, you would think that the Chinese weapons engineers just sit on their asses twiddling their thumbs all day instead of designing useful weapons...

Only the 3rd and 4th resemble Mio and I'm sure it was done on purpose, the other ones look original although she clearly is DarkTallAndBishoujo. But even so, that's not going to stop me from fapping.

That's the image where it's most painfully obvious. The resemblance on the previous one could be mere coincidence.

Now, the third image... Shimapan. So it's Mio.

The F-22's completely different to the Sukhoi line of fighters - different core principles at work.

I know it's normal to bash the Ruskies, but their fighters have got much longer ranges than US fighters and generally speaking, heftier payloads. The aircraft aren't as focused on stealth, but are generally better dogfighters, and their radar systems and pilot instrumentation are better.

The modern US designs are based around raw stealth, and even the T-50 prototypes are apparently less stealthy than the F-22, but how much of a real advantage this gives the 22 isn't known, and probably never will be - it's unlikely the two will meet in combat.

    fit and finish is one of the main requirements for stealth ^^;

but it doesn't seem to be a plane prioritizing stealth anyway:
    1. no stealthy Nozzles.
    2. and most importantly canards...

or how one of the YF23(the boing one) engineers in respect to stealth planes put it... "there is only one place for canards, the plane of someone else..."

Anon 13:28 never heard of the concept of 'outsourcing'.

It doesn't matter which country makes something. What matters is who planned the whole thing and what to use.

That's like saying KFC is the product of the entire world, when the core KFC ingredients is still a closely guarded secret only a handful people in this world know. You can breed chicken and grow up the spices yourself, but you still need the goddamn recipe.

The 'recipe' for American stealth fighters is not gonna be made public until they reach above 2 generations of the technology... or at least until the spies do their jobs. That's how Russia got to make their own nukes anyway, partly.

I don't care about any country, but the anon above me is clearly a retarded inbred asshole who comes online when his mom is not lecturing him on why adults must go out and live on their own, even though he's 40.

Bud you are clearly an asshole yourself, if you receive the product you can reverse engineer the product in question by taking it piece by piece, haven't you played with lego structures in your life? Everything is built from something.

Let say you get an KFC Chicken and reverse engineer this to make it taste the same if not better with lesser resources but will get the same result. There isn't just one way to make something.

A better example is emulators, these are small team projects to emulate the console/arcades games they wish to play on the PC.

I don't care about any country but the anon above me is an ignorant bastard who doesn't have the time to think, look or read before he writes, if people like this exist in the world it proves people are rabid animals with no sense of self.

It's nothing strange if the Jet looks like older models as it is based on older models.

When it comes to machine the only thing that is new is what is inside. If you notice, most of the latest jets look similar, that's because that kind of shape is aerodynamic just like how F1 cars look the same.
