He is using a wiimote plus that detects the orientation of the wiimote. He doesn't need 4+ senors around him to detect his gun movement.
This is definitely why we CAN have nice things.

You would actually only need 4 (or more) sensors for the wiimote to be able to do 360 degree turns. The VR is your screen... :D
