Vocaloid Plagiarist Band KAT-TUN Admits Crime

kattun-vs-luka.jpg

The boy-band which brazenly plagiarised a Vocaloid tune only to be outed by angry fans and a distraught creator has finally admitted its shameful conduct and made amends with its victim.

The songs in question can be inspected here.

The creator victimised by Johnny’s boy-band KAT-TUN, AVTechNO!, writes that a settlement was reached with the plagiarists:

Regarding the “DYE” incident, the producers of “NEVER x OVER” have admitted the influence of “DYE” on their song, and have taken appropriate action to settle the matter.

My sincere apologies for worrying any KAT-TUN fans with my words. KAT-TUN were not at fault – I wish them the best in future.

His vagueness and apologetic tone can probably be taken as an indication that he received cash or royalties in return for keeping his mouth shut so as to allow KAT-TUN to escape with their image and sales intact.

Okay for one, who said they are trying to imitate any sort of music style? Only the makers of the music are the judge of that.
Two, they aren't in the entertainment industry for competing against people, let alone people they probably haven't even heard of. Opinions are opinions, and obviously you like your music so just leave it at that. KAT-TUN sing for their fans who love and support them, and is that not respectable to you?
THREE. Do NOT throw the words "emo" or "punk" around ignorantly. They are most definitely NOT either one of those.

I'd like to see all of you bashers and haters sing better than them!

You think you are better than them? What the f***?

If you don't know anything about the group then why don't you just shut up and keep your opinions to yourselves? Don't be stupid.

Gay? Where did you find out? I want to see evidence that they are gay. Can't find a solution to your stupid comment? Why don't you ask them personally if they're gay?

God. You guys are just so pathetic...

It's called due diligence, or incompetency in other industries. As pointed out, they sing only what their producer gives them however as the band are entirely owned by their producers they are relatedly at fault.

Kat-tun itself as a band is at fault, the individual singers aren't.

Question: Are Japanese Police going to do something about them? Or letting them go? Because those cops just arrest the others who "supposedly" infringe the copyright.

the police probably won't do anything, since the situation resolved itself.

anyway, the guy who produced the song/"composed" the part that infringed on DYE isn't even from Japan... doubt the Japanese police could go after him.

    >There's nothing wrong with AVTechno saying KAT-TUN weren't at fault then, is it?

nothing wrong whatsoever. it wasn't KAT-TUN's fault because the group itself didn't compose the infringing part, someone else (some guy named Hans Johnson) did. AVTechno recognized that. other people have yet to recognize that though...

You contracted a worker to write a piece for you and you stick it into your book. It turns out a chunk of that is copied from some other book.

Granted there are still billions of book out there and you can't check them all. You can claim it's contracted out and you checked for plagiarism to the best of your ability yet you'd still have to pay under the law. You're still guilty of copyright infringement.

Avtechno and Kat-tun guilty of copyright infringement wouldn't change, they'd just be unintentionally/unknowningly infringing.

    Comment by Anonymous

    good point.

but in this case the group doesn't really get to choose. they were just given the song and told to sing it. I do agree that it would be unknowing infringement, but here's the problem: do you blame the people that were simply told to sing the song, or the person who actually plagiarized (the composer)?

Forget about them. Every teenager in this country looks like Justin god damn Beiber now, and the haircut sucks. It not only sucks, they're constantly doing that stupid head swish to get it out of their eyes. Their peripheral vision's gone too. I saw one moron with that haircut walk into a pillar in a mall... or maybe he was just a moron. Either way it doesn't make a good argument for that stupid haircut.

If that's good looking hair, then that says more about the intelligence of teenage girls than anything about guys' fashion sense. The hair constantly looks like bed-head and is disproportioning their head to their bodies half the time. At least Beiber has a woman stylist doing his damn hair each time so it looks like half a decent sculpture.
