I have no problem with this.
Peace Walker and Birth By Sleep is kinda low for me...
those two were pretty good games over here on this side of the world. they're not for everyone, but they're good.
Nice to see FF13 bribed someone to be on the list.
One non-Japanese game up there or so.
I also noticed that. I wasn't aware the english video game market has such a small audience in japan.
LOL
22. [NDS] Pokemon Heart Gold/Superior Silver (Pokemon) – 506,507 / 3,889,104
Superior Silver
49. [PSP] Keion! Afterschool Live (Sega) – 231,976
56. [PS3] Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix) – 206,057 / 1,904,313
yeah that's how it should be
1. [NDS] Pokemon Black/White (Pokemon) – 4,914,813
(Nothing surprising about that...)
NDS – 2,963,709 / 32,124,298
(Considering how the PSP is doing in Japan, this is a bit shocking...)
This is a very good time for me right now, seeing such a list, I have no problem with it either...
56. [PS3] Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix) – 206,057 / 1,904,313
i dunno, i'd take lightning over k-on any day.. sales indicate interest in a game, not how great it is. i've never played a game based off of an anime that was better than any final fantasy i've played. (well i haven't played 14.. make that FF rpgs then!)
if they made a guitar hero-like k-on game, yeah, i'd play it, i'm into games like that. but i'm going to get bored of a game in which they just sing and play music and dress up..
No PC games. so disapoint
@5:57 Oh, OK. I guess I'm going blind. I just looked at that Kochiya cosplay, so that might be the cause. fap fap fap...
The 360 at the very end with 3 titles makes you laugh and makes it almost "worth it" seeing the obligatory 4-14yo nintendo games dominating the charts.
And the comments/comment rating shows you the age range is just htat, 5-14yo's.
judging from how high some games are on the list, go include moe-loving otaku as well..
Where is Call of Duty: Black Ops? Them Japs don't know what their missing. Nazi zombies rule!
59. [PS3] Call of Duty Black Ops subtitled edition (Square Enix) – 198,374
Where the hell is Madden 11?
Damn... The PS2 is STILL on the list. God-damn. Truly the best system of our time... It may be last, but still, the sheer fact that it's ON the list proves something.
NDS + Pokemon FTW
best selling =/= top games
Your logic is retarded. Best selling and top are the same thing.
No. You're just retarded. He's saying that the best selling games aren't necessarily the best quality games.
Wii Sports is one of the best selling games on the Wii, yet it isn't particularly good (it was just bundled with the Wii, so that's why it did well).
Monster Hunter ain't a rpg, just so we are clear on that.
cant believe all those shitty ds,nds, psp platforms standing for "top games" lol,i couldnt enjoy a game on a 4inch screen....and pokemon? seriously? there couldnt be anything more flat and outright boring than a pokemon game, whats wrong with them ?
Sees Exercise is still the craze wii taking the places and MGS NOOO want that in the top 10 its at 11 lol
At least the Xbox360 can compete with a PS2 but hey its Japan bias its got 2 prominent game groups and sega so yeh.
HOORAY, WII PARTY 4 EVA!
Fist of the North Star? That was one of the worst games of the year. People will buy anything if it has a famous name attached to it.
Pokemon...can't believe it ranked 1...jk jk...it was obvious what was gonna be ranked 1 Pokemon or Monster Hunter even though they kinda have the same storyline(Pokemon) or retain their predecent's features(sry but i can't find another way to explain it...but Monster Hunter), they still get us hooked on for some reason.
"American games are just not as appealing to them".
..?
Its perfectly acceptable to dismiss a Western gamer who doesn't find Japanese games appealing, but laud their games simply for having a Japanese origin. Never mind if the game is mediocre or generic.
Justifying bias logic seems tedious.
Nod to Red Dead although I think it should be higher. Especially higher than COD.
Eh, top ten are ok with me, but the rest seem a bit random.
Wait, where's Monster Hunter Tri?
Oh wow, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side is on the list. D:
o well, Monster Hunter, Metal Gear Solid and Gran Turismo 5 are not JRPG games at the very least ;)
And i have no problems with playing JRPG games though, they are awesome. :D
It's funny how Pokemon is still so popular after all these years. It's still basically the same ol' pokemon formula.
Well you can't doubt the marvelous soundtracks and time-addicting gameplay each successive game offers
Some of these titles were available at the beginning of 2010, while others barely made it for christmas sales. As such, this list is horribly flawed.
Tales of Graces f has spectacular sales numbers, considering that it came out the first week of December.
60. [NDS] Love Plus+ (Konami) – 188,541
Only 60th?
Yay for Pokemon!
I wonder if Gamefreak saw pictures like that coming.
The problem I found with Black/White is the pokemon felt like they were taking basic household items or shapes that you see from certain weather elements, then attaching eyes and a mouth to 'em while calling them a pokemon.
I do like the updated graphics and sound, plus the new story. Team Plasma is a bit refreshing and brings back some of the nostalgia I had playing Pokemon Red and Blue as a kid.
That list looks like a fucking snoozefest.
Pretty surprised about Red Dead Redemption reaching top 100.
Guess japanese people haven't completely forsaken western games.
Still disappointing all the same since RDR is better than 98% of the other games on the list.
Right you are. I guess japanese do prefer reaching numbers over immersive story and gameplay.
Only an idiot would be surprised at a western game not being on the top 100.
Mt God!
They're lost in an unending pattern.
The only good thing to come out from the list is the fact that a rerelease of Resident Evil 5 performed better than that binary-coded feces that is FFXIII.
Otherwise, it just proves that the Japs have terrible taste in gaming. I mean, cmon... Wii Fit at top 10???
Wii Fit is in the top 10 of every other market. You sir, are retarded.
ohhh hoohhh.. whatbout pc games? mmo's?
also you guys forget majority of mmo games come from asia.. there isnt actually so many *western* mmo's that are originally *western* as at some parts mightve been made by asian programmers. also art in quite many games are made by asians.. even tho its *western*. ohh hhoohh hhoooo...
so yeah.. majority of mmo's are just translated and/or changed code/graphics abit to tweak it abit...
guess this list is only console games or japanese dont play pc at all?:D
Ugh Okamiden only sold 113198...
Amaterasu deserve better then that...
I know... And the original bombed completely in Japan as well. I really wonder why, it's an outstanding game.
And seeing how the release of Okamiden in the US and Europe isn't at a favorable date at all (simultaneously with the release of the 3DS), a lot of potential buyers are probably gonna be skipping on it too. It's a pity, really. Just as you say, it deserves better...
Oh well. I know -I- am buying it.
