Japanese gamers asked to rank their most anticipated games of 2011 yield up a list headed not by some blockbuster RPG as might be expected, but by none other than Ore no Imouto, backed up by plenty of other anime-based games.
The ranking, as compiled by Dengeki:
1. Ore no Imouto PSP (PSP)
2. The Last Story (Wii)
3. Valkyria Chronicles 3 (PSP)

6. Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy(PSP)

Disgaea 4 came 13th and Tales of Xillia 14th, for those wondering. The only western game to feature on the list is the pitifully late Japanese edition of Dragon Age: Origins, at 19th.
The closeness of Dengeki to the anime world probably accounts for the strong showing from anime-styled games, and the year-end dating of the survey appears to have just missed the mass of 3DS related game announcements made recently – Love Plus at the very least would otherwise likely feature.

These aren't real games!! Then again Dengeki's sample should be anime related so this should be expected in some way.

I'm personally not looking forward to -any- of the games in that list.
It seems the Japanese are more entertained by the setting and characters than actual story lines and gameplay. Also explains why the schoolgirl animes havent gotten old yet, and wont. They had a petty attempt at complaining about lack of originality but will still watch them, still go crazy over different girls and still buy all sorts of overpriced branded crap.
i concur, nothing on the list got me excited. TES-5 SKYRIM is the only one confirmed that i am looking forward to.

Bethesda's games aren't bad, but they generally ship pretty sub par. After a little bit without mods you find that they're actually quite terrible. Maybe since Skyrim is on a new not terrible engine at last, it will actually be good from the get go. Either way, if Mass Effect 3 doesn't get game of the year there's something very wrong with the world.

C'mon, how are The Last Story and Valkyria Chronicles 3 not great games? Personally, Valkyria 1 sold me on the PS3 so I might be too biased on that one, but The Last Story is like a shining beacon of RPG goodness in a world where Final Fantasy disappoints many. Time will tell if it deserves all the hype, but it is VERY anticipated.
There's also Dissidia, but it's not my cup of tea.
This. Valkyria Chronicles will be AWESOME, and VC1 sold me on the PS3 too.

We wanted PlayStation 3 game, not seen the PSP games are bad, they're really good for the systems limitations, but definitely not what we want, however we will accept it because there's no other choice.
sega said that if we bought Valkyria Chronicles 2 that they would make a PlayStation 3 version, and as a whole that game sold better than the first one it sold more copies than they could have ever anticipated, and they made another PSP game

Thats cause it would have taken too long to develop for the PS3 to make everything look pretty like VC1. Sega wanted to make a quick buck thus turned to the PSP (a console with last gen graphics). By using the PSP they can develop VC4 and VC5 by years end if they wanted too. and make way more cash then taking 2-4 years making VC2 and getting a lot less cash.
actually they had most of the work for Valkyria Chronicle two and three on the PlayStation three done.
you have the PlayStation three engine, the thing that takes the most time to build done.
Characters, whether on PlayStation three or PlayStation portable take the same amount of time to complete. With slightly more work out of PlayStation three side but not by much.
Once you have the game's engine you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Putting this game on him PlayStation three probably would've taken the same amount of time as making on the PSP probably less.
