Fanbase + Vocaloid = Milk worthy franchise
As HUKE gradually drew more girls, the fanbase followed. BGS was already pretty popular when her pic got around the net, which may explain her cameo in the OVA... even though she isn't as established as Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master.
Poor Black Matagi and Devil Girl continue to be overshadowed.
So it's more based on drawings, and maybe a manga?

The song "Black Rock Shooter" was written by ryo and preformed using Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku. The character BRS was slightly tweaked to 'appear' Miku-ish, but was never meant to be derived from her.
There has never been a manga, just HUKE and his illustrations. Kind of reminds me of Watanabe Akio, an artist with an eye catching style that people want to use and expand on.
Vocaloid and Supercell basically got a lot of people online to notice HUKE's work. There still is no actual backstory on any of his characters.

If you are referring to me. My comment was to Ben who wanted to know why Black Rock Shooter had become so popular. And Vocaloid is one of the reasons for that, even though BRS predates Miku's release.
