The exploration of Japan’s forgotten places continues below, with the intrepid urban explorer from the previous gallery returning to share more of his expeditions.
“If Battleship Isle is the king of derelicts, this is the queen – Hyogo prefecture’s Maya Hotel:”
“A Gifu motel – Hotel Chiri. It’s in good condition considering it is right along a national highway. Some rather nice tiles on display in the bathrooms. My favourite abandoned love hotel.”
“A Gifu paper mill. It shut down in 2006. Plants are a popular genre of urban exploration.”
“A Kanagawa bowling alley. It was left derelict for a long time due to asbestos problems. Recently the plot was bought by a supermarket. I expect it has been torn down already.”
An interlude gathering up material provided by other thread participants:
A disused station:
Fukuoka:
Unspecified:
And back to the main explorer:
“A Kanagawa rest home. Once a first class corporate facility, now abandoned. It had a lot of leisure facilities.”
“A request – the building of a securities firm which went bankrupt 10 years ago, in Yamanashi prefecture. Its mysterious vault room is quite famous…”
“How about an abandoned tunnel? It’s an abandoned railway tunnel in western Kanagawa. You have to wade through endless bushes to get to it.”
“A Kanagawa hospital, dark even at noon. Seems to have been used for rehabilitation.”
“This is what is known in Kanagawa as ‘block art.’ It’s in some odd jail-like building:”
“A Kanagawa ryokan which time left behind.”
