Sadly enough, Kuroneko not getting the attention she deserves (including not getting an anime adaptation out of her novels and artworks like Kirino did) in the show itself also happen in the real world.

You are right, we have different tastes but you'll be surprised of the level of agreement and understanding between us. Ask Hideaki Ano, he tough the western reaction to Evangelion would be shocking, an spectacular cultural clash.
Instead people commended him for his work, agreed on the social interaction issues he highlighted and the emotional and intellectual ways in which it was portrayed. He was disappointed to say the least.
I bet the majority of the participants are teenage females and below 12 boys.

If you think there is no difference in taste when it comes to what the Japanese like and what is westerners like, you should really get out and see the world more.
I have seen the same thing play out over dozens of anime discussion, where the english speaking audience is stumped when their favourite character of said series isn't No. 1 but the character they despise the most is.
